Vigil 687 Posted June 15, 2015 So looks like TOR is getting a third faction. Appears to be another Dark Side faction. Although... between KOTOR, KOTOR2, and TOR, don't we have enough hidden Dark Side Empires emerging from Unknown Space? Kind of neat to see where they'll go, though, since they don't have to worry about any canon but their own, now. 1 Oden Gebhac reacted to this

Shakespearian_Soldier 502 Posted June 18, 2015 SPOILER ALERT! . .. ... .... ..... ...... ....... I'm liking the look of the antagonists; though I would have been far more eager to engage them had the other brother survived. :-/
Oden Gebhac 445 Posted June 18, 2015 so... we're getting the Sith Empire again but with less black clothing and red tattoos... the short film is neat and has a compelling story... but I worry that the in-game story will be far less so. I find it amusing that the brothers bear striking similarities to Galen Marek. And will somebody please give me a villain that doesn't have a mechanical replacement!! It's so awfully cliche now... 1 Atomisk reacted to this
Decorus 672 Posted June 25, 2015 I'm not so sure its a Sith Empire. I'm also not so sure he's a villain he did just try to kill the Emperor of this Eternal Empire. Also Sith aren't really big on yellow lightsabers. Thats more a Jedi thing. I'm thinking this is more a Hidden Jedi Empire with really good intentions. Kyla 1,411 Posted June 25, 2015 The older mastermind in this piece is the "False Emperor" of the Sith Empire in SWTOR. He was run out of the galaxy in the storyline of the Sith characters in the original game, and now in this expansion he has returned with his new forces. Interestingly, I've heard that the storyline when it goes live will pick up after he has already "conquered" the galaxy, with the new storyline placing the characters as having to retake it from them (kinda the SWTOR version of WoW's Cataclysm I think). Jereru 171 Posted June 25, 2015 ****, now I want to retake ToR... But it was so buggy... But it had glowing sticks... But it was so buggy... But it had Huttbowl... AAarrrrrghh!!!

The Sith are not the only Dark Side tradition in the galaxy. In terms of antagonistic forces, the Eternal Empire is essentially a reskinned Sith Empire with more or less the same goals: galactic domination. I would be more interested if this third faction was a force tradition that sought to destroy both the Jedi and the Sith since the greatest wars in the galaxy have always have been fought between them. Edit: I still sick of the main villain being catastrophically damaged and repaired with cyborg parts.. Edited June 27, 2015 by Oden Gebhac
mouthymerc 4,483 Posted June 28, 2015 (edited) Is the Eternal Empire not at war with both factions? I got the impression that was so. I also got the impression that the one was going dark until he killed his brother. Which seemed to impress his father but also seemed to awaken in him the realization of how far to the Dark side he had fallen. Mind you that is just my take away from the clip. I could be completely off. Edited June 28, 2015 by mouthymerc

Decorus 672 Posted June 28, 2015 Jedi and Sith have to exist in order to keep balance in the Force anytime one wipes out the other something happens to swing the balance back in the force. 1 Jereru reacted to this
Ahrimon 1,211 Posted June 28, 2015 Jedi and Sith don't have to exist. They just perpetuate the cycle of each other. Jedi insist that everything has to be good and sith revel in the bad. LIfe isn't black and white, so the force shouldn't be either. If you wiped out the Jedi and Sith there would be good force users and bad force users just like there are good people and bad people. The problem with Sith and Jedi are their institutions that insist only they should exist.

Inquisitor Tremayne 424 Posted June 29, 2015 It's not a playable faction just the antagonist faction in the expac. My understanding is your character in the game (Republic or Imperial) is now "The Outlander" and this new Empire has wiped out the Republic and the Empire or pushed them to small regions of space. They are not merging factions and will most likely keep each factions fleet (gathering place for all players of a faction), so the Republic and Empire are probably pushed back to a small region of space. I'm more interested in how they reconcile current content with this expansion since there is supposed to be a time jump forward as well. Meaning, you'll still be able to play current timeline end game content but then also this future date content, seems odd.
