Lyraeus 4,759 Posted June 17, 2015 Hmm, question: How do you feel about some new guy using core set fighters, and saying one is Luke, and another is wedge. Even if he does not have the wedge card, but has a wiki page or printout of it nearby for referce. It still is an X-wing squadron with the hero dial side flipped face up. Would it detract from your gameplay and force you to leave, knowing, that in the back of your mind... its not Wedge... If it's first few games fine, but if it is the 10th such game. VanorDM 11,599 Posted June 17, 2015 (edited) In tournament yes no proxy allowed, other than that, it’s just silly. Most people don't care what you do in casual games, even those of us against proxies only really care about it in tournaments. Provided it's not too bad. When you start talking about matchboxes being used for King Tiger tanks, then that's something different. As far as I'm concerned, that's not even proxying. I have all the relevant playing pieces and I have all the relevant rules. And again if you're playing casual games, I don't think anyone would care. But you go to Worlds at the FFG event center that's something different. Because the rules make it quite clear that the upgrade cards are in fact playing pieces. This discussion got started because someone indicated that they would not be ok with proxies cards in any games against them, in addition to tournament games. 1 knasserII reacted to this

I understand that at Worlds (or even Nationals or some Regionals) FFG has specific rules but personally I don't give a **** about those. They instituted those almost entirely to provide profit for and put a good face on FFG. Frankly I don't want to use their often inaccurate cardboard range rulers which can be up to 2mm long or short. Because they are okay proclaiming inaccurate materials as "official" I'm okay with disregarding any of their mandates if I feel so inclined. Imagine the audacity of using a non FFG mat at a FFG tournament? It borders on obscene. I understand those decisions are out of my hands but if I showed up to Nationals and my opponent didn't have an upgrade card and I couldn't loan it to him I wouldnt tell anyone. It was about proxing a card, not model in any game tournament or casual. Edited June 18, 2015 by miridor 1 knasserII reacted to this
miridor 102 Posted June 18, 2015 Don't know what happens in my post above but I think you can get the gist
DarthBadger 53 Posted June 25, 2015 There is an occasional issue with proxy cards, if you only have one when you need multiples. This is when a card needs to be rotated to show it's been exhausted that turn... But, I think we should move on...
