macar 408 Posted June 1, 2015 Lots of Tech built into this but I am not a huge fan of squadrons though I understand their appeal. AFII B -Gunnery Team -Electronic countermeasures -x17 Turbolasers Nebulon B Support x2 -xx-9 Turbolasers -Engineering Team -(x1 title of Redemption) Correlian Corvette B -Mon Mothma -Jaina's Light -Electronic Countermeasures The obvious synergy here is the engineering, once the battle starts repairs become much easier to do especially for the Neb B's. The correllian corvette is just meant to run around and maybe shoot things if it has to. The xx-9 Turbolasers are meant to do one thing shoot after the AF-B Shoots. x17 lasers and 4 dice mean that you can knock the shields down or off most anything. Follow up shots give the ships two faceup cards if you do crit with the neb b's. Seems like an easy way to put on damage fast and recover damage from those heavy imperial shots
NickyTT 9 Posted June 1, 2015 I'd recommend escort frigates of support refit as you'll need the second blue anti-squadron die
Overdawg 349 Posted June 1, 2015 If you plan on playing this competitively I would suggest you play against a heavy bomber squad and see how it goes. I suspect you wont be too happy with it if play against a competent player. If this is just for casual play this sounds like a fun build.
Katarn 317 Posted June 1, 2015 Why does the Neb B do double criticals? I think the plan of 'fly around and shoot things' is sort of nebulous, especially for a ship limited to medium range. A corvette A would work better for that, so maybe drop the ECM and get some long range guns.
ficklegreendice 34,362 Posted June 1, 2015 (edited) Imo, the most effective non-squadron ship is the AFmkii - A variant, at least in my experience. you lose a squadron value (so sad ) for an extra anti-squadron and a blue die on the front and back arcs (which have been surprisingly significant) you can get three with Garm for 268 (if you have the stones to buy three which I will at 400 ) Paragon and enhanced on one gets you 283 another EA gets you 293, which you can enforce with intel op for a full 300 note I've only ever run my double whales so far and one of them is a Haven for 6 x-wing squadrons. I have been running paragon, however, and he is an absolute boss monster that outputs more than VSD levels of damage if properly positioned. The strength of paragon lets me reserve my x-wings for basically nothing but anti-squadron duty, and I lose very little even if they do nothing but camp on the Haven and turn it into what I like to call "a moving barricade of "nope"" Edited June 1, 2015 by ficklegreendice
CISAdmiral 11 Posted June 2, 2015 (edited) You could try this variation of your list: Rebels - 292 Assault Frigate Mark II A - 86 - Paragon Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - 77 - General Dodonna Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - 64 - Salvation Nebulon-B Escort Frigate - 65 - Redemption You would know have solid anti-squadron if you can overlap your fireing arcs of your nebs as they want to be shooting squadrons with those side arcs rather then ships. Your fourth ship now has a perpuse rather then just maybe shot things. General Dodonna with the increased damage of paragon, salvation, a assault frigate from B to A, and a corvette to a Nebulon gives you reliable damage as well. Solid Idea, seems a little better than just have one out of combat ship (something I thought about that could really hurt me)
