Wretch 109 Posted May 30, 2015 I just want to confirm my understanding of SD. The ship with SD doesn't need to be damaged only hit to nullify SD. Lt Blount will automatically hit with any attack therefore he will strip targets of SD with any attack.
StevenO 2,996 Posted May 30, 2015 (edited) If Blount shoots at a ship with a SD the SD goes away. He always hits even if he rolls all blanks. Other ships can also "hit" the ship with the SD even if later effects will mean the uncancelled dice are moved to affect other ships or are otherwise negated after the "compare results" step of an attack. Wretch 109 Posted May 30, 2015 Thanks but who else automatically hits regardless of the dice results?
DraconPyrothayan 6,107 Posted May 30, 2015 Thanks but who else automatically hits regardless of the dice results? Only Blount. Even other abilities that cause damage (like Crew Vader) aren't considered a "Hit", merely extra damage.
Forgottenlore 9,823 Posted May 30, 2015 Thanks but who else automatically hits regardless of the dice results? He was talking about effects like Draw Their Fire which can move the last uncancelled die result from the defender to another ship. In cases like that the original target of the attack is still considered "hit", even though a different ship actually took the damage. 2 WWHSD and Otacon reacted to this
StevenO 2,996 Posted May 31, 2015 Thanks but who else automatically hits regardless of the dice results? Answered with both ways of looking at it. I was more specifically referring those things like DtF which could pull a die result onto a different ship which would mean no damage to the targeted ships. If the ship that takes the damage from another ship also has a SD it is NOT "hit" despite taking the actual damage. Now on that other point there are things in the game which can cause damage but which are NOT "hits" in a way that they would remove the SD. Crewman Vader is one example but others include bombs, splashes, and pretty much every other effect except something that says "Attack" performed by one ship directly against the targeted ship. TheBlueMax 79 Posted June 3, 2015 Auto blaster attacks that result in hits can't be canceled by defence dice or evade tokens. On the flip side one of Ten Numb's crits cannot be canceled be defence dice or evade tokens.
