Help Me Polish my Corvette Patrol

Initiative Bid 10

Objectives: Intel Sweep, Hyperspace Assault, Opening Salvo

Leaves me 64 points.... Not sure where to go from here... another Corvette? Turbolasers to deck out the Corvettes? Raymus or an Intel Officer for the Salvation? Fill out on fighters? (Not big on that one, trying to keep this one fighter-lite... but I think Tycho would be good for tying down Rhymer)

Strategy is fairly objective based... I'm hoping Intel Sweep and Hyperspace Assault will scare most Imperials into choosing Opening Salvo. Intel Sweep should be fairly easy with this many Corvettes, and Hyperspace Assault with Salvation could be deadly. Opening Salvo will make for a powerful first enemy attack, but I think it can weathered with Mon Mothma and an abundance of Evade tokens. Then Salvation can follow up with 3 Red, and 3 Black dice with a Concentrate Fire dial... with each Crit Icon counting for 2 hits... Each Corvette can initiate with a Concentrate Fire for at least 2 Red, and 3 Black as well.

Honestly, I think it will be harder to win an Intel Sweep than it will Opening Salvo.

 

Any thoughts on how to spend the last 64 points?

I was considering something along these lines, but I imagined running a space whale with it.

As far as this goes, I would drop one Vette to a B and run Dodonna's Pride. I might even drop two and run one with pulse, but I'm not sure about that.

As for the remainder of your points, you could run another ship and try to just beat down you opponenent with activations, although I would first try some a fighter screen for salvation to keep Demolisher/Bombers off of her, because I think you will see plenty of demolisher in wave one. My first thought was Bwings, but I don't think they fit your fleet. I'd probably fill with X-Wings.

If you drop your bid to 9 points you could fit in 5 x-wings

 

Drop it to 8 points and you could get 6 A-wings

 

drop it to 6 points and you could get 5 X-wings and change one of the CR90's to a b with overload pulse.

 

You would probably want at least a modest CAP since Rhymer bombers are an obvious threat to the speed of the CR90's.

Activate 4 squadrons with your command, let them clear the enemy fighters with 5 anti-squadron dice each, then open up with the Corvettes and use IO to deny their best choice defense token.

It's not the full-on Corvette Patrol, but I think it'd have a bit better survivability...

If you are really trying to keep it squadron lite I would add a CR90 Corvette B with Dodonna's pride 45 points. Then I'd add an Intel Officer to Savlation for 7. 12 points left, so I would recommend upgrading to an Escort Frigate for the anti-squadron, 7 more points.

 

You now have an initative bid of 15, if you are willing to drop it lower I might take an A-wing squadron for 11 to tie up squadrons for a round.

 

I recently played in a tournament and out of 6 players my bid of 5 was the second lowest out of them all, so you might be able to get away with a bit of 4.

It occured to me after posting this that polish and Polish are homonyms. My love for Eastern Europe knows no bounds, so if anyone has advice on how to polish, or Polish, my corvette list, it is appreciated.

This has nothing to do with Armada but a titbit for you, polish is the only word in the English language where the meaning can change depending on whether the first letter is capitalised or not.

Do you mind elaborating on all the nav teams? The corvette is already incredibly maneuverable, and pulling all the nav teams would get you another fighter and/or some upgrades.

For my play style, I like the extra maneuver options it gives. with a nav command and token, I can get either two additional clicks on the turn tool if needed, or make a up to a 2 speed change. Useful for zipping 5 corvettes in behind a VSD, and not overshooting it. I was able to one round a VSD (with Motti) at a tournament this way, and nearly did the same to a second one at the same tournament.

I struggle to use my CR90s. To the extent that I have stopped using them at all and go for 3xNebs or a mix of Nebs and Afmk2. It seems like I activate the little guys and then they get murdered before they can fire again

I always try to be the first player.  That allows me to 'shoot and scoot' a corvette that is in a hazardous spot.  This has saved me more than once from losing a ship.
