emmjay 319 Posted May 7, 2015 For those of you who don't know, Massdrop sells items at a steep discount due to the number of people buying into it. IE a volume discount. Last week the finished up a X Wing bundle that was well worth it for new players. Now they have a great deal for players getting into Imperial Assault. And I mean CHEAP! As of this posting it is $134 for the core game, all expansions (wave 1), and a set of dice. Retail $190. This includes US shipping cost. This is a fantastic way to get new players interested in the game and get everything on the cheap side. https://www.massdrop.com/buy/star-wars-imperial-assault-bundle
Radarman5 1,347 Posted May 7, 2015 That's a pretty good price, it's about $16 less than from mimiaturemarket.
taleden 55 Posted May 7, 2015 Tempting. Wish they'd do it for just the expansions, though, for folks who already have the core set.
Deltmi 786 Posted May 7, 2015 It's a good deal, but I'd rather buy the stuff from my FLGS. Where are you going to play if the game stores go out of business because of online retailers?
Reiryc 619 Posted May 7, 2015 What a great deal. Wonder if they do descent?
nungunz 221 Posted May 7, 2015 CSI is still cheaper, I believe. 1 Stone37 reacted to this
taleden 55 Posted May 7, 2015 It's a good deal, but I'd rather buy the stuff from my FLGS. Where are you going to play if the game stores go out of business because of online retailers? Oh I absolutely agree, I'd much rather buy the core set for $100 to support my FLGS rather than save 30 bucks getting it online. But as a campaign player with zero interest in tournaments and only very minimal interest in skirmish, the wave 1 expansions represent comparatively awful value for money. The core set includes 24 missions and 34 figures, plus all the map tiles, heroes, imperial classes and deployment cards, agendas, items, rewards and miscellaneous tokens to play the game, not to mention the design and development that went into all the underlying rules and mechanics. So let's say I value those at $2 per mission for its content, $1 per figure for the nice looking plastic model, and ~$20 for everything else (which is being generous for missions and figures). For a campaign player, each of the wave 1 packs only really offers 1 mission and 1 figure to replace the cardboard token from the base game. I'd gladly pay $3 for that, but $10-15 is really a stretch for the actual value it offers to my campaign play experience. So I'm not interested in this "drop" including the core game, because like you say I'd rather buy that at a local store. But if they had just the expansions for $25-30 I'd be very interested. patrickmahan 297 Posted May 7, 2015 $3 is way too cheap of an asking price for each pack. Yes you might not use the skirmish missions and the command cards, but they are included regardless. People forget that FFG needs to make money off of this and the licensing rights for Star Wars are not cheap.
nungunz 221 Posted May 7, 2015 Man, now everyone should go vote for the Armada products. 76 to go and they'll contact FGG. An Armada bundle would be great.

Radarman5 1,347 Posted May 8, 2015 My local game store (Toy Wiz) has some crazy prices. for X-wing they charge $19 for certain small ships (thats $4 more than the msrp) and their online store has a few for $30-34. So screw them, I'll buy paints and card boxes and occasionally a ship if the price is reasonable, but I'm not looking to support them by any means. Miniature Market is someone's FLGS, just not mine unfortunately 2 Reiryc and Jerbiwan reacted to this
