BergerFett 708 Posted May 7, 2015 While admittedly not scouring the rulebook in the same fervor Gandalf used while researching bilbo's ring (an LOTR reference in the stars wars boards.....HERESY), I can not find anything that says Howlrunners ability DOES NOT increase the dice rolled by Counter. DWRR 898 Posted May 7, 2015 Correct. Howlrunner's ability is for all attacks from other friendlies at range 1, no matter what caused the attack.
wonderpug 219 Posted May 7, 2015 While admittedly not scouring the rulebook in the same fervor Gandalf used while researching bilbo's ring (an LOTR reference in the stars wars boards.....HERESY), I can not find anything that says Howlrunners ability DOES NOT increase the dice rolled by Counter. Since the Counter text reads "after a squadron performs a non-counter attack against you, you may attack that squadron...", and Howlrunner's condition is "while a friendly swarm squadron is attacking", I would think that her buff would indeed be applied. 2 JgzMan and Wildhorn reacted to this

infusco 91 Posted May 7, 2015 There's a reason she's the number one target on the board in pretty much every game. 2 DWRR and Wildhorn reacted to this
Madaghmire 7,276 Posted May 8, 2015 I feel like the preview page for squadrons mentioned this when going over soontir fel but I'm too lazy to look
infusco 91 Posted May 9, 2015 Official FAQ just confirmed this: Q: When a squadron with counter performs its counter attack, can it resolve abilities that affect an attack? A: Yes. A counter attack functions just like a normal attack except that the dice gathered for the attack are indicated by the squadron’s counter value instead of its anti-squadron armament. They can be affected by the swarm keyword, Howlrunner’s ability, etc. https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/7d/99/7d997d2d-ba95-4164-aaec-5f085521e615/armada_faq_v10.pdf
AintNoPoser 117 Posted June 3, 2015 I don't know if this is on the same topic, but is it at all possible that TIE Fighters can attack X-Wings even if they don't have the counter ability? If so, how? Thanks.

ransburger 256 Posted June 3, 2015 I don't know if this is on the same topic, but is it at all possible that TIE Fighters can attack X-Wings even if they don't have the counter ability? If so, how? Thanks. I'm guessing you are referring to the escort rule on the x-wings. "Squadrons you are engaged with cannot attack squadrons without escort unless performing a counter attack" What this does is force your TIE fighters to fire at the escorting squadrons rather than the b-wing flying right at your capital ships. Scenario : you have a tie fighter and an interceptor squadron both engaged with an x-wing and a b-wing, you are first player 1) Both your ships must fire on the x-wing, due to the escort rule. ("cannot attack squadrons without escort") 2) X-wing fires on the tie fighter, killing it. 3) B-wing fires on the tie interceptor since it has no other good options. The interceptor has counter, so it rolls 2 blue dice for an attack against the b-wing. (Counter bypasses escort. "...unless performing a counter attack") Basically counter attacks can bypass escort, but they aren't a requirement for anything. 1 indyXwinger reacted to this
CaribbeanNinja 6,207 Posted January 28, 2016 So does this mean if you run HR and Dengar, all Swarm squadrons get counter 2? (Dengar gives all counter one and HR increases attack die.) 2 Madaghmire and Green Knight reacted to this
Drasnighta 26,832 Posted January 28, 2016 As long as they are within Distance 1-2 of Dengar, and Distance 1 of Howlrunner at the same time, and have Swarm, yes...This means Counter-4 Interceptors, Counter 2 TIE Fighters, Counter 1 most everything else, as they're lacking inherent Counter and Swarm.Have fun, and hope you don't die to Ship Anti-Squadron Attacks... 4 DerErlkoenig, Green Knight, Hesekiel and 1 other reacted to this
