Servitors

Recommended Posts

My Tech-Priest, just got to level 3, and he specializes in the mystical aspects of the tech-cult. ( Luminen Shock, Charge, Blast, etc.)  But then my character found a best quality plasma pistol, sound it and now my character is rich and after buying Dragon Scale and a Utility Mechadendrite. I had some extra cash, I disided to buy a Gun Servo-Skull armed with a .54 Tranter. Now I wanted to buy a Combat/Utility Servitor. Does anyone know where I can find the listings or you could just tell me.

Use the price for the Janus Simulacra in the IH book (don't have it on me so I can't say what page) and scale it appropriately for the combat servitor found in the core book (by that, probably lower the price from what the Simulacra cost).

The question of how much does a Servitor cost? came up in my campaign.  The Noble has accumulated around 8000 thrones and was wondering what would have been best to get, Power Armour, a Heavy Flamer or a Servitor.

Anyway after a look at the Servitors in the IH its obvious that both are exceptional models, the Praetorian is a Mechanicus Heavy COmbat unit and the Janus is almost a Tech-heresy.  They do however give a good idea of the upper price limits and the rules for creating a Cyber-familiar give an indication of some of the costs involved so my answer is...

Around 10,000 assuming you can find someone willing to sell or build a Servitor (This would be the type that can perform simple tasks) with the cost going up to around 15,000 for a fully tricked out Combat Servitor with a heavy weapon..

Servitors are the 40k equivalent of slaves-***-robots.

In the late 1780's a slave would typically go for about £100 (probably about £8000 today), although some went for as cheap as £10, some specialists (or good studs) upwards of £600 (£48,000 today).

That said, in the WEGd6 Star Wars RPG, droids (R2 or 3PO units for example) cost about 2000 Credits.

Ultimately its really up to you.

Personally i'd set the cost of a servitor around 500 Thrones with discounts for purchasing 'gangs' of them, but that's just me...

500 sounds about right for a standard labour servitor, assuming you guarantee to hand the implants back to the AM after its demise. Specialized (Heavy industrial, combat or starship for example) servitors would be somewhat pricier.

I would go with 500 for a Mono-Task Servitor. Add 200 for each additional basic related task that it could perform.

Mono-Task Servitor: Cost 500 - A basic labor servitor that has one Task Cortex that can be programmed with one simple job. Ex: to load and unload a truck and place the boxes in a neat and orderly manner in a specified location.
Cortex Memory Module Upgrade: Cost 200 – Limit 2 – One additional related task may be programmed into the Task Cortex.
Ex: For an additional 200 the servitor could read the boxes and place a mixed shipment in alphabetical/numerical order or place the boxes into separate storage areas in different holds of a ship. For an additional 200 (900 total) It could both separate cargo into different locations and alphabetize each cargo hold or a vehicle maintenance servitor could refuel a specific vehicle type, as per pilot, with memory upgrades it could check for maintenance needs (check oil), and clean windows for 900.

Multi-Task Servitor: Cost – 1200 – One primary task with 2 memory modules upgrades and One secondary Task Cortex that is capable of jobs unrelated to the Primary task. Also a Multi-Task Servitor can be programmed with advanced skills(player skills). Pilot: Ground Vehicle as a Basic skill would use a Cortex slot, as a trained skill would require both memory upgrades. Each skill upgrade, Drive + 10, would require a Cortex unit and both Memory upgrades. So for a mere 1800 thrones you could by a Multi-Task Servitor with the Pilot Ground Vehicles +10 skill.

Additional Task Cortex Upgrade: Cost 500 – Limit 2 additional per Multi-Task Servitor
Cortex Memory Module Upgrade: Cost 200 – Limit 2 per Task Cortex.
(4 total Task Cortex units and 8 cortex memory modules maximum.)

*Skills can only be programmed by individuals with skills trained to that level.

Physical Augmentation Upgrades: S, T, and A only. Cost for +5 to one stat = 500. Limit 3 total stat boosts. These can be all to one stat or spread out between all three.

Stats:
WS --
BS --
S 20
T 20
A 20
I --programmed skills only
WP 10 – represents the servitors drive to accomplish its programming.
Fel –

These are not combat servitors and cannot be programmed as such.
All sales* are subject to Adeptus Mechanicus oversight and maintenance. Any failure of the purchaser to keep products in good condition and regular maintenance by certified AM personnel will result in forfeiture of sale* terms. Any modification to AM property will be met with immediate confiscation of HERETEK items and all assets and creations belonging to the Purchaser* will be considered property of the AM.

*Sale(s) is defined as a long term revocable lease agreement between the AM and an outside party.
*Purchaser is defined as an individual or group unrelated to the AM who forfeits flesh rights of self, all creations, and relations that have interaction with AM property.
*Forfeiture will result in confiscation of Purchaser* and equivalent property, material and flesh, to compensate the AM for replacement of damaged goods with interest based on original terms of service compounded with training and indoctrination times of equivalent AM personnel as to be able to replace sale* items and acquisition and conversion or Purchaser* and other newly acquired AM property.

Wow, got sidetracked there.

Thoughts?

Basic servitors, not that expensive. After all, IoM uses tons of them and they wera our pretty rapidly sometimes. I assume the tech for lobotomizing and implanting is failry standard and common now, so a plain labor servitor, a normal combat servitor , a simple gun servitor with a heavy stubber, all will be fairly cheap to buy and ought to last you for a while. Upkeep for them may come to apretty penny though, and better servitors probably go up in price steeply.

Let me start with saying this servitors are like buying slaves from the hay day of course, yet they are no where near a slave.  Generally speaking a cost of servitor is going to be based on a multitude of things.  The wet wear (bodily componets) quality is going to affect the cost somewhat.  The hardware is going to alter it, (physical capabilities), its firmwares and lastly softwares are going to adjust hte prices.  Think of it like this, a basic servitor that is just a simple butler may only cost 500 thrones, whilst a combat servitor may cost you hundreds of thousands of thones of course depending on the gear put in.

A servo skull is in essense the cheapest form of a servitor out there, keep that in mind as well.
