So Mr. Fett survived the Sarlacc, officially.

Well, maybe...

This has been kind of over-looked with all the craziness that went on last weekend. But that is clearly Boba Fett in the SW:BF trailer and he looks to be on Jakku, a battle after the Battle of Endor. The crashing Star Destroyer kind of gives it away, its likely the one we see in the AFW trailer.

So according to Disney, the popular bounty hunter looks to have lived.

That's Tattooine not Jakku. Jawa Sandcrawler beneath him.

Agreed, that Sandcrawler almost has to make it Tatooine he's on.

Plus I found this line interesting. I wish they had a link to the source...

“the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet on the Outer Rim [and takes place] in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor”.

Because at one point someone posted a plaque or something from the Celebration that called the new X-Wing a T-70 that belonged to the forces of the Resistance, which fought against the First Order.

That really kinda hinted at that there was no New Republic or even Empire any longer. But that above line seems to fall more in line with how things shaped up in Heir to the Empire. Because that seems to say that the Empire did fall apart post Endor, and the Rebel Alliance formed the New Republic and spent time taking out small splinter groups of the old Empire.

Unless the whole New Republic and the Imperial Remnants completely fall apart and form some sort of new factions.

The battlefront announcement did say new republic and that the empire kinda fell apart after endor. It also said that the DL content was going to show the battle of jakku and how the political situation in TFA comes about.

There is a sandcrawler behind fett. There is also a crashed ISD behind him.

The most logical extrapolation would seem to be that the empire fell apart into factions after endor, allowing the rebellion to establish the new republic, then there was some kind of titanic battle on/over jakku that somehow left both galactic powers in ruins, allowing the first order (whatever it is) to seize power in the galaxy, setting up the new movie.

Boba fett apparently participates in that battle, and jawas are sort of interstellar nomads or hobos, scratching out a living on any godforsaken planet that is unable to drive them off.

When Boba Fett fell into the Sarlacc, there was no New Republic. That came after Endor. So seeing him in a battle with the "New Republic" obviously means he survived to see it.

Do you guys not see the massive Star Destroyer crashing into the background? The same we see in the first shot of the new trailer. Which JJ said is Jakku, not Tatooine. Too much of a coincidence to have a SD crashing the same way on Tatooine as well. Also, what major battle happens on Tatooine during the OT? They may be retconning one, but I don't think so.

Sandcrawler does not = Tatooine. They were manufactured to be mining vehicles. The Jawas just converted them into their mobile homes. Any desert planet could have a Sandcrawler on it.

It makes sense to keep such a popular character alive. Even Lucas went back and said that he lived. How awesome would a spin-off movie showing him escape the pit and try to track down Solo or a video game at the least. Cool to know why he became involved in the huge battle.

On the other hand, I believe the note on the trailer was "actual game engine" or something like that, not "actual game footage", they were showing off the graphics, it is possible that the scenes in the trailer don't actually correspond to actual scenes from the game, just that these scenes can be created by the game engine. So it is possible that someone just took a cool shot of boba fett, put it in front of the jakku backdrop and tossed in a sandcrawler because it looked cool.

Game engine can do a whole lot of scripting w/o having to worry about any physics going on.

I have high hopes for BF, but the trend of unfinished games we have been having recently makes me worried.

So how did Boba escape? Jawas

Wow... people do have too much time on their hands.

IIRC in one of the EU books Boba Fett essentially blasted himself out of the put with a thermal detonator and one quick blast of his jetpack. I may be remember it wrong though.

Artwork was used in 2013 for LCG stuff.

I have to say I actually hope that's not true. Because if so, then it seems to me that it's little more than an excuse to bring back the Empire.

So it becomes more of a rehash of the OT then a new storyline. Perhaps they'll be able to pull it off so and make the story interesting, but it still smacks of lazy storytelling to me.

I remember some of the rumors talked about a Cold War situation. So, I'm thinking the NR is still around, just at peace with the Empire/First Order. And are secretly supplying support for the Resistance that are still under the yoke of the Empire/First Order.

I'm looking forward to Aftermath so we can find out. I know there's people who like the Empire and all, but I don't want to see something as lazy as coming with some excuse to return the galaxy to the same state it was in, at the start of ANH just so they can have stormtroopers and Tie fighters.

As much as I love Boba Fett and want him to be alive, I'll be skeptical until he actually appears in some narrative driven content post ROTJ. The things you get up to in Battlefront battles aren't considered canon.

It seems pretty inevitable that he'll be "resurrected" so to speak eventually.

Actually it's been said this one is canonical. This is how we will get to see the pivotal battle of  Jakku.

Sandcrawler.

I don't think Jakku has Sandcrawlers, and I SEVERELY doubt they'd put DLC shots in the launch trailer.

So Jawas only live on Tatooine? Hmph.

JJ's not going to go to all the effort to make a new desert world and then give it all the same fauna as Tatooine. Then it might as well be Tatooine.

Agreed. Jawas don't strike me as particularly space faring either.

So if this is Tatooine in the Battlefront Trailer, someone needs to explain to me the crashing Imperial Star Destroyer in the upper right of the shot. Looks really, really close to this:

star-wars-7-the-force-awakens-crashed-st

This is Jakku. Its been confirmed by JJ himself.
