Rottenreason 123 Posted April 21, 2015 Since I got Armada my "want" to even play x-wing is completely gone. I thought for sure I would want to keep playing both games but that doesn't seem to be the case. I found one of my main issues with X-Wing was all the stuff I had to carry if I wanted to play at at friends or my game shop. The games are fast but the setup times aren't. My friends even noted how fast setup time and game play was with Armada vs X-Wing (playing at 1 core set) Has anyone else put X-Wing in the closet and preferring Armada? 10 GrandAdmiralCrunch, Green Knight, BiggsIRL and 7 others reacted to this
Akhrin 576 Posted April 21, 2015 Not yet, but we've got X-Wing Regionals in just under two weeks, so there's a big focus on preparing for that! Once that's out the way I'll be making a push for Armada, and there's a few of my group who've said they'd look at it properly once X-Wing Regionals were out the way. Even then I don't see X-Wing dying off any time soon, and some of the things you've mentioned like transport and setup time will probably be a bigger issue for Armada once Wave 1 hits. But if it wasn't for the tournaments I'd already have temporarily shelved X-Wing to get as much Armada as possible on the go. 1 Rottenreason reacted to this
Beatty 1,730 Posted April 21, 2015 Give X-Wing a rest until you get your Armada fix in. In a month or a couple of years you will want to pull out X-Wing and have some Fun games again. 6 clontroper5, Vigil, Crabbok and 3 others reacted to this
CDAT 243 Posted April 22, 2015 Yes, but that is not saying much as I stoped playing X-wing some time ago.
coastcityo 324 Posted April 23, 2015 I'm going to be playing some serious amounts of X-wing while awaiting that Wave 1 release. As far as dropping X to play Armada, not me. Although, I find my STAW ships are collecting a lot more dust now days. 1 Rottenreason reacted to this
Frimmel 2,593 Posted April 23, 2015 Well if you're not coming up with the lists you'll field until you all get together and sit down to play you'll both need more time to set up and to carry more stuff around. With Armada there isn't as much stuff yet so fewer options for what you'll field and less setup time and less stuff to carry around. Do you really need to take all the stuff? Can you do your list creation and so on the night before you go to game? It seems to me your problem with X-wing is one of organization plus Armada is new and fresh. 1 Rottenreason reacted to this

I think I'll build my Armada list and carry just it with me. Sure I'll have favorite ships i'll run (Home One *on release, Neb B, etc.) I might have enough to run a alt build swapping out a squad or a ship or 2. This case does it for my 2 core sets atm. I'm sure I will change things out once more waves hit or pick up a second case. http://www.amazon.com/Plano-Double-Cover-Tackle-Organizer/dp/B001ECQPVQ/ref=pd_rhf_pe_s_cp_5_0AQA?ie=UTF8&refRID=07AT05KT5HFYDYGSYB3H Actually I think my X-Wing stuff I is organized rather well. I keep in 3 Plano cases (Rebel, Scum and Empire) I'm sure I could manage to reduce to 2 if I squeeze everything from Scum into one of the cases. I have a binder with all my builds, upgrades, etc and a playmat. Since my friends don't play I have bring everything so they can get a chance to pick out there own build or run one of my pre-made builds. Lately if I'm going to play X-Wing though I invite people over (K.I.S.S. method at it's finest) This eliminates the need to carry or pack around anything. The biggest pain for me was the setup and the token pieces (Shields, Focus, Evade, Target Locks, etc) Even with a pre-made build it was taking me a good amount of time to setup. Mikael Hasselstein 6,898 Posted April 23, 2015 I happily play both. In fact, it's still easier (quicker, more seductive) for me to get an X-Wing game in, because that's what most of the people in my community are still playing. Armada takes more planning and organization for me, still. At some point, I also want both (and maybe Imperial Assault) to be part of a greater overarching game, but I still have to figure out the details of that. 4 Rottenreason, SniperSnake28, coastcityo and 1 other reacted to this

Rabid Bantha 9 Posted April 28, 2015 I'll stick with both. There is interest in Armada here for sure but X-Wing is still the BMOC. That may change with Wave 1 as alot of locals arent willing to dish out the cash for 2 starter sets but I suspect we will just run both.
Dusksong 241 Posted April 28, 2015 I have put X-wing purchases to rest after Wave 5, but I am certainly still playing. The only part of X-wing that Armada has absolutely put to rest for me is the desire to play Epic. The big ships felt clunky without having Armada around to scratch that itch... At least the transport sees use as an obstacle. 1 meekor reacted to this
theruleslawyer 165 Posted April 28, 2015 The only thing that is really turning me off on x-wing is the meta in competitive games of building combos off special rules. I'd much rather run larger battles with basic units. Armada might be more my speed for big battles, but I'm sure it'll get to the point x-wing is now with a few waves out. jboweruk 5 Posted April 30, 2015 I won't stop playing X-Wing or the other big game from a certain other big company; but at least with Armada and the latter I can manage like with chess to play alone if I wish; so getting a bit more game time. X-Wing is very hard to play on your own as it takes all the strategy out of it.

Wildhorn 453 Posted May 4, 2015 I sold most of my collection of X-Wing (had over 60 ships). I just kept a core set and 4BZ to be able to participate in tournaments and play sometimes at local gaming stores.Armada is more my kind of game. 1 Rottenreason reacted to this

Gazerfoxie 169 Posted May 8, 2015 I too, happily play both... and Imp Assault, and Descent, and Wings of Glory.. Sails of Glory.. Battletech.. Fed Commander.. Small World..Iron Stars.. and lots of other things. But I totally do not have a problem hoarding tabletop games. It's just a hobby. I can quit anytime I like. Norsehound 2,740 Posted May 10, 2015 I have. It's strange, since I was so hardcore into X-Wing with my regional group. As soon as Armada shipped my enthusiasm deflated for X-Wing faster than air out of a balloon. Really though, I think the first signs of departure was so much scum in wave 6. Wave 7's reveal only hastened the process. For an Imperial Navy fan there are many more reasons to be excited for Armada now than X-Wing. 1 Rottenreason reacted to this
Neth Havoc 0 Posted May 10, 2015 As long as there is no Wave 1 for Armada I still have to play X-Wing... I wont sell it, but there will be much less game time for X-Wing.

So funny that you say closet as I just put my X-Wing stuff literally in the closet..... but then again so are all my games so I guess that isn't saying much. I certainly have very little desire toplay X-Wing as-is. I want to try some epic games of X-Wing with the Raider vs Tantive. I think that will be fun. But until I get my hands on a Raider I think I'm only doing tournament for X-Wing and even that is mostly for the social aspect of it, and in hopes of getting Armada players to stick around for a game afterwards. 1 Rottenreason reacted to this
UnfairBanana 2,251 Posted May 16, 2015 I picked up Armada yesterday. Still not gotten to play it, but after wave 6/7 of X-wing, I find myself losing the love I used to have when the game was simple. So, after much, much, deliberation, I've bought into Armada. I'm away from my playgroups over the summer, but this way I won't be playing catch-up come August when everyone's back together. I'm gonna be playing the tutorial game with my girlfriend later tonight (if she's sober enough to learn, lol) and I'm looking forward to it.Armada may very well have put X-wing to bed for me. Hard to say.
DScipio 812 Posted May 19, 2015 I am very glad about everything played out. I had made a very good deal for buying a X-Wing collection for 100€, but the collection never arrived and I got my money back. So know I can concentrate my money on the much more interesting Armada. Takeda 257 Posted May 22, 2015 I'm selling mine and yes it's because Armada is what X wing could never have been. Could I play both sure..... But interest in x wing is completely gone.

I agree with this. x wing is a good game but armada is what starwars space battles should be! The Capitol ships with fights support not just fighters.
