Another reason selfie sticks should be banned universally. (SW Related)

I'm truly sorry you live in a country that so celebrates gun culture, did you know in the first four months of this year you've had more police shootings alone than we've had gun incidents scince 1901 in England.

It's a shame not all police are as sensitive as they should be but have you ever read into how difficult it is for a male victim of **** to be taken seriously when the attacker was female? The common view is women can't assault men so it's virtually impossible to get to trial.

But a false accusation nearly led to innocent students getting lynched, there is a severe inequality but I assure you it's not in the males favour.

The **** culture does not exist and its been debunked over and over, all perpetuating that myth does is take away from the severity of real incidents.

Overwhelmingly the victims of random assault are male but that's never addressed is it, the overall dialogue is focused like a laser on how evil the straight white male is and how it's okay to be sexist towards them because they are in power.

Hobo, dealing either one problem, the overwhelming incidence of sexual assult against women, does not require an advocate to engage with every other incidence of problems. You are right that male victims of abuse are treated horribly by their peers and rarely taken seriously by the authorities. That has nothing to do with what Nightshrike said. It's a red herring meant to derail the conversation even further.

Men are also, overwhelmingly, the perpetrators of the random violence you are declaiming, again it's another red herring.

You can claim, all you want, that the imbalance is not in men's favor, but you are not supported by the evidence. Pointing to individual, extreme cases doesn't change that. I'll see your near lynching, which means no one was lynched btw, with the casual disregard for the victim in Stubenville, and all the words spilled for the plight of her rapists. A culture so blind to the value of a young woman that the attendees of the party watched her dragged into the car of her attackers and laughed about it.

Or how about the football players in Vanderbilt who gang raped a young woman in their dorm room and filmed it, she won her court case and still had to change schools

Or how about Daisy Coleman, who was raped and left unconscious outside the door of her home in freezing weather. She went to the authorities and her reward was a level of harassment from her community that forced her whole family to flee, her assailant was, eventually charged, but with "child endangerment" not ****.

And you know what, I can do this all day, the pattern is horribly common, but hey some guys once, somewhere, were almost lynched.

Yes men are overwhelmingly the instergators of violence, but it's against other men 93% of all reported attacks happen to men.

Look at domestic violence male victims have a tiny fraction of the shelters offered to women.

Men are supposed to just shrug it off or they get demeaned for being weak where's the equality in that?

Yes **** happens and its a terrible act no one should suffer but here you are banging on about female victims and don't once mention male victims can't you see how horribly biased your point of view is?

Your not fighting for equality your fighting to put women's rights above men's and that's not what real feminism is about, can't you see how your vitriol is harming women and not helping?

Tumbler feminists have made feminism a dirty word in the space of two short years cant you see why this massive backlash has arisen, why 80% of women reject your movement, prominent 2nd wave feminists are actively working against you doesn't that illustrate how warped your views are?

Feminism has been a dirty word almost since its inception.  It isn't the last two years by any stretch of the imagination.  Also, when we're talking about sexual assault and sexual violence, as we have been in this thread, started because of the camera incident, then we are not wrong to focus the discussion on women, as 90+% of sexual assaults are inflicted upon women.

To bring this thread back to what it started out with, on Friday I was standing on the street corner under an awning, waiting for a ride from a friend because it was pouring rain.  As I stood under the awning, I saw an old man with a camera, and my first thought was that he had come to get some artsy photos of State St. and the Capitol Building, and it had been ruined by the rain.  Instead, I saw him taking pictures of girls who passed by, angling the camera to get under their umbrellas.  Then, he would look at the image he had snapped, smile to himself, and do it again.  I couldn't believe what I was watching.  One girl even said, "Could you not!" and he just laughed and shrugged and kept doing it.  This is the daily reality young women live with, and it's a reality that is very, very different from the one young men live with.

So, if we're talking about the problem being fighting to put women's rights above men's rights, I have to ask you, Hobo - how many times has a pervert taken your picture without your permission?

Just to add Hobo. No one here is endorsing the bad things that happen to men. However you are trying to derail this conversation from a discussion about sexual harassment to some kind of men's issues thread. Start your own thread I'll be there agreeing with you and I won't mention women's issuesin that context.

If you really care about the very real problems of men who are abused, talk about it In its own place. Quit trying to take over this discussion. Both are valid.

Other wise you look like this guy
