Vigil 687 Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) WRT: Character models, maybe it will be that the character models can be used as stand ins for other models. Such as using Malekith as a Dark Elf lord mounted on a dragon (or whatever). Edited June 14, 2015 by Vigil
Robin Graves 6,054 Posted June 14, 2015 You have a point there. still feels a bit cheap tough. (The only cheap thing from GW these days!) At least Chaos is stil a big part of the setting!
Hobojebus 11,341 Posted June 14, 2015 But they've also said any kit over 8 years old is not getting made anymore and once stocks gone its gone for good.

Vigil 687 Posted June 29, 2015 So apparently the new Warhammer rules will be precisely four pages long. And the new starter will include those four pages... and another ninety-six pages of fluff. Starting armies are going to be a Khornate army and a... something Eternals army. Presumably an army of Sigmar-related angels or champions or something (I don't know). The rules will be available as a free download from GW's website. And there will also be rules for the legacy models (models from End Times/pre-Age of Sigmar Warhammer). Again, free to download off GW's website. Each model package will have its own self-contained rules for use. And supposedly, the game is going to be scalable from small skirmishes with a few minis to enormous battles. I'm not excited, per se, but I'm interested to see how this shakes out. Robin Graves 6,054 Posted June 29, 2015 Seems interesting. If each model package has it's own rules included, does that mean we'll no longer get armybooks? Kinda odd since it was warhammer that first did the whole all rules for one army in one big armybook thing. 4 pages seems a bit small. Maybe with "basic rules to start your adventures in the warhammer world" they meant stuff the player has to agree with: You will buy only citadel/ forgeworld models. Errata: you will only buy NEW models. You will paint them with citadel paint only. You will use only Games workshop terrain kits. You will buy a new rulebook 6 months after the free rules become obsolete. No poofters complaining! There is NO rule #6. No poofters complaining! You will like us on facebook, twitter and BOLS. No crying over constant price increases. Warhammer = good! Other games = bad. You are now ready to take your first steps into the world of warhammer! :D 3 Gadge, FTS Gecko and Trevor Goodchild reacted to this
Hobojebus 11,341 Posted June 30, 2015 Well it's £75 for the starter which is too high for the young demographic they are aiming for, it's killed off the old system so that just drives older players away. The empire or sigmarines as they've been dubbed do not look like the empire troops instead they look like blood angel troops and the scales changed so you can't use your old miniature collection beside them. 40k the skirmish game is now about large scale clunky combat, and warhammer the game of large scale combat is now a skirmish warmahordes clone so yeah the sharks been stuffed into a fridge and nuked. In a year it'll canned and warhammer will go the way of the dodo, sad times. 2 Gadge and FTS Gecko reacted to this

Gadge 4,294 Posted June 30, 2015 I mean the 'age of sigmar' should be more primitive in my eyes...not more ornate and spiky and gold. He's supposed to be a hero of legend. Or is this a 'reborn' sigmar? I dunno, i've zero interest in it. if that is the most exciting teaser pic they can come up with the rest of its going to be a sack of soil.... GML 124 Posted June 30, 2015 It really feels like they are doing to Fantasy what they did with BFG and Epic. Free rules, limited model support, and then just binning the whole thing. I mean, the buggered up the game so badly with 8th edition, they know they lost all interest.

It's 200 years in the future from WFB sigmar has come back as a living god and he's raised those killed during the end times as angels. Which is why they now look like space marines. Robin Graves 6,054 Posted June 30, 2015 So what are these guys called anyway? The hammer bros? I really wish they didn't look like Cygnar troops. Oh wait Cygnar/Sigmar: I get it now! GW's new strategy is banking on grandma buying the wrong game for little Timmy. I wouldn't mind as much if they hadn't ripped of Skorne models a few months ago. Oh wait I get it! Scorne/Khorne! GW, you so funny!

Gadge 4,294 Posted July 1, 2015 So what are these guys called anyway? The hammer bros? I really wish they didn't look like Cygnar troops. Oh wait Cygnar/Sigmar: I get it now! GW's new strategy is banking on grandma buying the wrong game for little Timmy. Tangental story... My good friend Stevie Hambrook who used to work in fanatic/black library with me (RIP Stevie) used to run a games shop in lincoln. One day this old lady camein and said 'i want to buy an 'ock cock gobber' Naturally Steve and his staff who had had some lunchtime drinks were a bit confused by this. 'an ock cock gobbe' says the old lady, its for my nephew. For warhammer. After racking his brains it finally dawns on stevie that this lady wants an 'orc rock lobber' and politely he says something like 'Ah madam, perhaps the young man means this, an orc rock lobber, its very popular.' 'no, she says, i want an ock cock gobber' 'We dont sell those' says steve, ' we do have orc rock lobbers though' By this point the lady is getting very patronising and insisting he has an 'ock cock gobber' and eventually steve snaps and just shouts 'Its a f**king orc rock lobber you stupid old bat, f**k off out of my shop!' At which point a red faced old lady departs still muttering that she knows what she wants and its and 'ock cock gobber' and that Steve is clearly and idiot for not knowing what one is... If by any chance there is a game that *DOES* have a unit called an ock cock gobber let me know, its too late to tell Stevie but i'd be amazed if there were such a unit. 3 Vigil, Niinivaara and Robin Graves reacted to this
