CptShrike 52 Posted April 15, 2015 Hi folks, I've been tinkering around with Fab's Fleet Generator (Thanks Fab! http://armada.fabpsb.net/) and seeing how I can expand my Core Set Fleet. I've been promised one of each Rebel Wave 1 pack for my birthday, so that's what I've got to work with. I'm still trying to strike a balance between decent capital ships and enough fighters, so any and all comments are welcome. Flagship Assault Frigate Mk.II B (72) - Garm Bel Iblis (25) - Expanded Hangar Bay (5) - Gallant Haven (8) Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) - Adar Tallon (10) - Yavaris (5) CR90a Corellian Corvette (44) - Raymus Antilles (7) - Nav Team (4) - Jaina's Light (2) CR90b Corellian Corvette (39) - Leading Shots (4) - Dodonna's Pride (6) Fighters Luke Skywalker (20) Wedge Antilles (19) X-wing Squadron (13) "Dutch" Vander (16) Y-wing Squadron (10) Keyan Farlander (20) B-wing Squadron (14) Objectives: - Precision Strike - Hyperspace Assault - Superior Positions My main (theoretical) plan of attack is to use the Gallant Haven to run down the gauntlet covering fighters, flanked by the Dodonna's Pride. The Jaina's Light will use its enhanced mobility to move through the battlefield and use Raymus to dispense Squadron tokens as needed. The Yavaris with Tallon will accompany Luke, Keyan and the B-wing squadron and use both abilities to make the most out of their attacks. As I said, it's all pretty theoretical at this point, as I need to practise maneuvering the Assault Frigate and my cap-ship tactics (I'm pretty handy with the fighters), so any and all helpful comments are extremely welcome. 1 Pikciwok reacted to this
Pikciwok 113 Posted April 15, 2015 I like your elite bomber wing and all your capital ships except from Jaina's Pride. If I were you I would use cr90b with overload pulse instead. That's just my preference though. Imho it's not 'balanced' list. This is more similar to starfighter-centric Rebel list (Gallant Haven, Yavaris, Talon, objectives) without maxed out fighter points and with extra corvette. That doesn't mean it's a weak list. Quite an opposite. It just lacks decent gunships and you wanted fighter-ship ballance. 1 CptShrike reacted to this
CptShrike 52 Posted April 15, 2015 Thanks for the input Pikciwok I guess that's the real difficulty. Is it worth trying to strike a balance between cap ships and fighters, or is it better to specialise entirely and not try to build a jack-of-all-trades list? To be perfectly honest, I just wanted to have both of my CR90s in a list, and it seems hardly worth it compared to how much power some more fighters would be. I'd definitely like to see how this list works. If it totally sucks, I'll probably drop the Jaina's Light for some A-wings to intercept other fighters. After some playtests if you're disappointed with the list try to squeeze in Mon Mothma. She makes the Corvettes more durable. 1 CptShrike reacted to this
ficklegreendice 34,362 Posted April 15, 2015 we definitely have no idea how many squadrons will be ideal once wave 1 hits Personally not sold on Garm as this fleet's commander if only because my perfectionism is causing the Corvettes to shine warning lights. Definitely seems more of Miss Motha's alley, and if you could find another point you can jettison leading shots (seems inefficient with so few dice, and between concentrate fire and two attacks per activation you're bound to hit one crit or more damage than one crit would deal, I'd hope) for her. If you want to keep Garm, I think a weapon's liaison (again over leading shots on that corvette) would be right up the AF's alley. On demand squadron commands can really help recover a bad situation or turn an unexpected occurrence into an opportunity. 1 CptShrike reacted to this
CptShrike 52 Posted April 16, 2015 Thanks for the input Ficklegreendice Alright, I've downgraded the CR90a to a CR90b and moved a few things around, so now the fleet is commanded by Mon Mothma (cheer, cheer). Flagship Assault Frigate Mk.II B (72) - Mon Mothma (30) - Weapons Liaison (3) - Expanded Hangar Bay (5) - Gallant Haven (8) Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) - Adar Tallon (10) - Yavaris (5) CR90b Corellian Corvette (39) - Leia Organa (3) - Overload Pulse (8) - Tantive IV (3) CR90b Corellian Corvette (39) - Dodonna's Pride (6) Fighters Luke Skywalker (20) Wedge Antilles (19) X-wing Squadron (13) "Dutch" Vander (16) Y-wing Squadron (10) Keyan Farlander (20) B-wing Squadron (14) Objectives: - Precision Strike - Hyperspace Assault - Superior Positions The Tantive IV would now act as a flanker with the Dodonna's Pride, allowing them to mix and match and gain tokens per Leia and the Tantive IV title, potentially swapping both out for squadron commands if needed. My only other thought would be to drop Overload Pulse and Leia, and pick up an A-wing squadron.
