Force power question from a new GM

Recommended Posts

I'm a little confused with the way Harm and Bind are used in combat, do they require discipline checks to use them on an opponent (move - hurl and unleash call for this , but these two don't seem to?), or do you just need to activate them?  Want to get this cleared before the reach Force rating 2.

Another question, Move - Hurl upgrade, I have a player that loves throwing enemies into each other.  Do both enemies take full damage (5 + discipline check success for say a Jawa)?

Thank you all for the help.

1. If no Discipline check is called out for a Force power that the GM thinks might need one, he may add it as his discretion.  The Dev's have simply decided that it is balanced against other choices without a check. Feel free to adjudicate differently, especially if the target is skilled in the ways of the Force.

2. RAW, they both take full damage.  Which seems kind of cheesy to me since it makes that specific application twice as effective as any alternative, leading to repetition, tedium and boredom.  I rule it that each take half so that there's a meaningful choice.

You can definitely add resistance checks if you'd like and you feel it's necessary (though it should still be mostly restrained to bigger enemies). For Bind, I'd say it's very similar to Move in terms of what can resist it, which would be Resilience (and Discipline for Force Users) since you're using the strength of your body to try and push back. Harm might actually be the same since you'd have to physically resist your life essence being pulled from your body.

And yes, they both take the full damage.
