Sean Matsuda 0 Posted August 12, 2009 hopefully someone will actually reply. I am trying to build nightmare fire. This is the build so far any suggestions or opinions are more than welcome. Nightmare foundation 4x commitment to excellence 4x amy's assistance 4x makai high nobel 2x blinding rage 4x white magic 3x all life is prey 3x intimidating presence 3x fight or flight 3x evil plans 3x no memories 3x memories that stain its armor asstes 4x lynette's shop 4x ready for anything actions 3x hunger for souls 3x prince of foolishness attacks 3x knight breaker 3x midnight launcher 4x zessho hoho 4x wind storm sideboard 3x kof 2006 3x spinning beat 2x clean rematch basic idea destroy foundations doing as much damage as possible. I think ready for any thing is one of the mvps of the deck as it increases speed damage without commiting and draws me cards. Not really sure spinning beat will flow well with the deck because it has to be played after 2 other attacks, and im most likey going to be playing knight breaker as my third atk for the combo ability. Id also like to add in soul edge for control and a years difference for more draw power but dont wanna go over board with the 4checks.
LordAggro 0 Posted August 12, 2009 Well, your prayers have been answered; you got a reply. You have an interesting variation on the standard Fire beats lineup (they usually pack Senkyutai because you can pump speed to the moon as an alternate kill or Reverse Flayer to pack on more damage muscle), but if you can pull a Reversal off with regularity (i.e. actually block something), then YMMV. I would also integrate an alternative high attack to set off the combo, in case Midnight Launcer doesn't show up or gets used beforehand (you never know). Though Cleave is a bit generic, it has very solid stats (+0 mid block you say?), so it's a viable alternative. If you're willing to live with a 2-check in your deck, Hammer Uppercut packs every bit as much damage as Midnight Launcher, and can help get enemy characters out of your way, and Upper Claw sports some beastly stats. I'm not sold on 4 Ready for Anything; the difficulty is steep, the CC is bad, so playing more than 3 in the deck will actually slow you down a bit, methinks. Good call on its usefulness with Nightmare*, though. I agree that Spinning Beat won't do you much good, especially if you put in another high attack. I would trade Fight or Flight for Enraged Golem; it has a better CC, and the damage bonus from it plays nice with the other things you have available. Another thing that I've noticed is that you need speed, and you need it pretty badly. Adoration and Empire's Ruin can help you muscle stuff through. You don't need all that many 6 checks, either; my friend runs a Zi Mei* deck with the same basic concept (she runs 8 2's and gets away with it!); just put in Communing with the Ancients to make sure your kill turn goes down (and you can even use the Evil ability, too). Anyway, hope that helps you out a bit.
Sean Matsuda 0 Posted August 12, 2009 first thanks for actualy replying i usually dont post decks cause only 0 -2 people reply usually i do want to play reverse flayer for its aggro potential but i dont want any 2 checks because of hunger for souls & what is ymmv? LordAggro 0 Posted August 12, 2009 YMMV means "your mileage may vary", which basically is a pretty way of saying "to each his own". 2 checks do kind of suck for Hunger of Souls, that's true. But I believe all the other comments I made have solid merit.
Wafflecopter2 0 Posted August 13, 2009 Hunger for Souls works fine with 2ccs. Think about it -- if you decide to run the 2cc, and then you flip it with Hunger for Souls, you probably just saved yourself 2 or 3 foundations on your next control check (because you'll flip the 5 or whatever was next on the top). And if you really want the damage pump, you tap 2 for +4 -- just like Stand Off! It's good

LordAggro 0 Posted August 14, 2009 I second running Pommel Smash; you're gonna need it to punch through the better defensive staging areas out there. I'm not really sold you need The Price of Foolishness all that badly, so I'd toss it. Apart from that, I don't really think I'd change anything else.
