Bloodsteel 0 Posted August 2, 2009 I'm from Indonesia, and I'm still quite new at the game and the UFS community at my place is still growing at a steady pace(We got around 10 players in 1 month and this number is still growing). I'd like to make an Ivy Deck which uses only the new cards(5 point shuriken). That means that I'll only use cards from Soul Calibur IV and Shadowar set(for now). For the main resource of the deck, I suppose it's All. Here's the list: Char:3x 6/6 Ivy. (All, Life, Void) Action: 44x Switching Weapon Styles Asset: 42x Ice Coffin of the Sleeping Ancient2x Valentine* Attack: 231x Raging Gnome(too expensive to get more than 1)4x Venom Lash4x Howling Spirits4x Evil Sparrow4x Razor's Bite2x Cross Madness4x Pommel Smash Foundation: 264x Genius Alchemist4x Researching the Past2x Soul That Protects4x Purified Body4x Researching Anywhere4x Prominent Noblewoman2x Artificial Soul2x Relentless Total: 60 Cards The Strategy would be just to keep attacking and keep drawing until the enemy is dead. Nothing original, I'm just implementing what the designer had in mind when designing Ivy and her support cards. If anyone have any input on the deck, It'd be very appreciated. Remember, SCIV and Shadowar cards only(well...maybe Tekken 6, but that's not out yet).
Shaneth 0 Posted August 2, 2009 I think Venom Lash is the worst out of all her attacks. I'd swap two of them out for two more Cross Madness and just run 2x Venom Lash.
Bloodsteel 0 Posted August 2, 2009 Is there any speed booster in SCIV or Shadowar that could work with this deck? especially to boost Cross Madness' speed, because without ay speed boost that attack is a bit...hard to use. It's a bit hard without Adoration or Kung-Fu training i this deck but I just want to create a deck that uses only SCIV and SW cards (**** my stubbornness )
LordAggro 0 Posted August 3, 2009 I think the Life resource symbol has what you're looking for: Tira's asset Eiserne Drossel offers a +2 speed boost from SCIV, and Shadowar has Lu Chen's Robes of the Grandmaster to do the same thing for Life attacks. I would take out the assets you have for these guys. With one copy of each out, you can give an attack +4 speed without having to commit a thing. Sounds good, eh? Bloodsteel 0 Posted August 3, 2009 Eiserne Drossel and the Robes of the Grandmaster are both very interesting cards but I think I'll just add 2 Eiserne Drossel and 2 Reaver's Axe. And perhaps remove 2 of the 3 Ivy. character cards in the deck(or should I just leave it there?) I wonder how this deck would play out...I'm worried about conflicting resources(Reaver's Axe, Pommel Smash and Relentless uses All, while Eiserne Drossel uses Life). But I suppose 2 cards wouldn't hurt....at least I hope so
Protoaddict 0 Posted August 3, 2009 Ivy is not good on all unless you have the money to support it. You basicly need to run 4 x Blood runs true and 4 x Raging Gnomes. Ivy on Life or Void however is fantastic in the limited format. Life has a number of speed pumps already named. Void has some more techy answers to problmes which would probably wind up being hit or miss depending on the deck you are facing. I feel like ice coffin and Valentine miss the mark though. Both are kinda costly for what they do. If you go the route of life, consider running drosel and robes, as well as leaping snap kick (great with genius alchemist), No foregiveness, Ostrheinsburg Castle - Twilight (Can REALLY speed up the kill), Rising hilt which can easily out damage raging gnome on a long turn, and Swing kick which has better numbers than most other attacks you are running. I would also drop from your current build: 2x Ice Coffin of the Sleeping Ancient2x Valentine*4x Evil Sparrow The first 2 do not really do enough in my eyes to merit being run over foundations which do so much more for you. Also there is not enough life gain to bother running anti life gain right now. Sparrow is one of my favoriate attacks in the game, but it feels wasted for ivy. Would sooner use something else. Bloodsteel 0 Posted August 3, 2009 I see your point, I'll change to Life then. One thing though, should I still use Relentless(foundation) or just change it to something else...but what to use?
Protoaddict 0 Posted August 3, 2009 Lifes foundation base seems **** decent in these 2 sets, so long as you curve the difficulties you should be pretty good without having to splash. For this deck I like: 4 x Artificial Soul4 x Genius alchemist4 x Torn Hero4 x Prominent Noble Woman4 x Regretful Existance4 x Soul that Protects4 x Know when to talk Gives a good curve so you can spam early on, regretful is really strong on your kill turn, letting you get even more use out of foundations you have used AND playable while committed. Know when to talk can also stop a kill turn with its ability to clog the card pool, the rest is pretty self explanitory. In this limited format I would Highly consider running path of the master and frantic search. While POTM is great in any format its really strong for Ivy with all her spam, and frantic search can get you yoru kill in later turns.
Bloodsteel 0 Posted August 3, 2009 Wow, those are great Foundations to use on the deck. I'll definitely use those in my deck. Thanks a lot Btw, this'll sound newb-ish but I can't seem to find anything about Path of the Master on the places I usually check. And I'm guessing it'll be difficult to get that card here in Indonesia. That card is a promo right?
tannerface 0 Posted August 4, 2009 All ivy decks should include at least 3 path of the masters.
Bloodsteel 0 Posted August 4, 2009 What's that card's effect? and how can get it?(it's a promo card right?)
LordAggro 0 Posted August 4, 2009 To be honest, I have yet to lay eyes or hands on the card and it's been talked about in these forums for around 2 months, so disregard that last bit unless eBay is kind to you.
Wafflecopter2 0 Posted August 4, 2009 Here's some scans for ya http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s87/shadowdragon136/PotMPromos.jpg
LordAggro 0 Posted August 4, 2009 Yeah, but how do you get it? I've seen the scans, but the card has yet to surface. I feel it shouldn't be recommended until it's at least remotely available.
Worker_X 0 Posted August 5, 2009 Path of the Master was the card players received when they traded in the patches from the monthly single symbol events that ran for a year. If I remember correctly, here was a single North American event and a single European event for the trade. At the end of the event, all the remaining copies went to the winner of the event. To get the card now, you will have probably have to find someone willing to trade.
Bloodsteel 0 Posted August 5, 2009 Well, since it's almost impossible(if not impossible at all) to get that card here in Indonesia, I suppose I'll have to skip that one. But I wonder there's any alternative from SCIV and SW cards? Even if there aren't I suppose it's enough to bring 2 Eiserne Drossel and 2 Robes in my deck. phlip45 0 Posted August 5, 2009 If you want to go life or just want to add in a tiny bit of life, Tira's Lowdown Neb is basically a cheap Raging Gnome. Play five attacks and throw that down, the E on the card says it is a 5 low for 7 damage basically. Plus if you make a longer chain it gets even bigger. phlip45 0 Posted August 5, 2009 If you do decide to add some cards from other sets, I would definitely suggest powerful style if you took out the life gaining null things. Ivy has such long attack strings that it wouldn't be unheard of to completely heal after one turn from a powerful style or two.
Shaneth 0 Posted August 6, 2009 I run my Ivy off of All and it seems to do really well. One huge card you should look into is Controller of Souls. Negation is huge in limited format.
