Delete Star Wars Rebels and replace it with a show written/directed/animated by the guys who The Clone Wars/Samurai Jack. The purple Mando armor, the slingshot, the spinny lightsaber...cannot unsee.

Isn't it the same team that did The Clone Wars that is writing Rebels?

I think he means the cartoon Star Wars Clone Wars, not the animated series by Filoni and crew.

I actually didn't watch The Clone Wars for a long time because I liked Star Wars Clone Wars so much and saw no point in making a second series about that time period. Boy was I wrong. 1000% better than the prequel movies.

Except for the overusage of Rex, TCW was very well done.

Admiral Ackbar in X-Wing. I don't care if he's a crew card, a huge ship crew card, a pilot, just put him in the game. Also, don't make his ability trap-like like how he is in the LCG. He noticed the trap, he didn't make the trap. Give him some sort of knowledge-of-your-opponent's-stuff-based ability. Or, give him a support ability to your squad. He was an admiral after all.

Yeah, an ability to show he's got instincts and communicates them to the fleet.

How about:

Crew Card

Admiral Ackbar

"At the beginning of the turn, all friendly units within range 2 gain +2 to their Pilot Skill for the duration of the Activation Phase."

Cost: 3 or 4

Kind of acts like an area-of-effect Veteran Instincts, but only for movement. He may not know exactly where the enemy is going, but he assists his pilots as best as he can.

1: Another 2 seasons of The Clone Wars but no sidestorys and at least two or three starfighter or fleet battle focused episodes per season and go back to having episodes set throughout the war rather then in order. Must include Grievious’ attack on Alderaan, the development and first use of the Kenobi Offensive, and end with showing the Battle of Coruscant before Anakin and Obi arrived. It will also include as many EU Clone Wars Era ships as possible. These must include the Class C Frigate, Alderaanian War Frigate (With proper class names rather than their current names), the Wavecrest class Frigate (Roughly the size oof a Nebulon-B), the Thranta, Bayonet, Carrack, and Dreadnaught class cruisers, the Novasword class fighter, and some corvettes for the CIS. It must also include some CIS commanders who believe in their cause and actually do their best to keep innocent bystanders from being harmed by their actions.

2: Have the main cast of Rebels do things like help hijack Imperial warships like a Nebulon-B, obtaining some of t early X-Wings, and also help gather parts for creating the first Assault Frigate Mark I (Give it a proper class name as well.) Also have the rebels present at the Battle of Tanaab and show Lando rallying the defense force and leading it into battle. No ship disabling nets or throwing of asteroids via tractor beam allowed. Include the Alliance using Privatees, and make Hondo the first. End the series with the fleet battle mentioned in the A New Hope opening scrawl. Again it must include some Imperial commanders who honestly see the Empire as a good thing and believe its flaws can be fixed from working within the system. Also some Rebels who are using the rebellion as an excuse to loot and wreak havoc rther then honestly believing in the Alliance cause, and even some rebels who do believe in the cause but are willing to perform some  very dark grey actions in its service.

3: More novels and short story collections set during the Clone Wars, the Original trilogy, and the early Alliance eras. Include a short story collection showing the Battle of Endor from the point of view of various characters on both sides. Infantry, fighter pilots, starship captains, officers, and crew and so on. Between the novels and the Rebels series make pretty much every post Clone Wars and pre-Endor Legends ship class canon.

4: A movie or maybe a dulogy focused on the life and career of Admiral Ackbar. Start with him as a cadet and show him engaging pirates and such as a young officer, maybe helping some with designing some early mon cal ships. Move on to his days as a Captain in the Clone Wars and show him commanding a ship against pirates and CIS forces. Then show the fall of his homeworld to the Empire, if doing the duology end the first movie after this. Next show his life as Tarkin’s slave and his rescue by the early rebellion followed by his career as commander of the Alliance fleet before Endor and some of the major battles he took part in after Endor.

5: A new Empire at War edition including both the original game and Forces of Corruption. Add single player story campaigns for both the Alliance and Empire to Forces of Corruption, some new ships, and ground units to each side and restore all of the options that were removed from the original’s Galactic Conquest mode back into Forces of Corruption’s and include a system for making your own Galactic Conquest maps with options to determine what systems are on the map, who controls those systems at the beginning (Alliance, Empire, Pirate, Uninhabited, or Zann), and set up maps with only two factions.

Follow this with At War games set in the Clone Wars era, the era between the OT and ST, and the KOTOR and TOR eras.

6: Add fleet command and capital ship command battles to TOR.

7 X-Wing and Rogue Squadron games set in the Clone Wars OT and ST eras.

8: Star Wars Privateer and Pirates style games set in the OT era. Start flying a light freighter or Star fighter in the Privateer style game and commanding a corvette or old frigate in the Pirates style game. Include missions off ship and being able to explore starports, shadowports, and bases on foot.

9: A Star Wars Game similar to the Homeworld games set either in the OT era or between the OT and ST.

10: A Star Wars game like Mass Effect set in the OT era. Player is commander of an independent rebel unit assigned to cause what damage they can to Imperial operations in the region the game takes place in and starts the game by stealing an Imperial Frigate then wanders around recruiting new members and doing missions both main and side. Also include playable ship battles

He made Star Trek into Star Wars, so I trust him.

Turning Star Trek into a cheap Fx sci-fi movie with no story whatsoever isn't turning it into Star Wars.

Oh, is that what he did?  I thought he turned Star Trek into a big budget action-oriented science fiction movie that is light on the science and heavy on the fiction, one which deals with the emotional motivations of characters rather than rational science, and which borrows from elements of the buddy comedy in the relationship between Kirk and Spock.  My mistake.

It had horrible dialogue, bad character development, horrible plot. Honest trailers is the dead truth.

2009 not so much, but Into Darkness is worse than TMP

Simply not true. Kirk and Spock were far more interesting than Anakin and Obi Wan in the prequels. Uhura and Spock actually have chemistry on screen, especially when compared to the abysmal Padme/Anakin dynamic.

I'm not a trekkie so none of my delicate sensibilities were offended by JJ's reboot.  I am however a huge Star Wars fan and I would watch the 2009 reboot and Into the Darkness over the prequels any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I am cautiously optimistic.

Well duh, pretty much everything is better than the prequels, but I never compared it to the prequels. Although I contest Into Darkness being better then Revenge of the Sith. I could rant forever on the cringe-worthiness of Into Darkness. But like I said, I don't know where you're thinking I compared it to the prequels because I didn't.

Yeah, I thought you meant TPM for the Phantom Menace.  That's why I thought you were talking about the prequels.  My mistake and apologies if that wasn't the case.

Revenge of the Sith did have a few things going for it. Namely, Anakin changing his name to Mat.

It was the last film with Jar Jar.

It opened with a pretty cool space battle and the first 20 minutes was all action.

More angry Jedi err I mean Mace Windu.

It's ok, I meant TMP for Star Trek: The Motion Picture. It's all cool

I've loved both Trek and Wars pretty much as far back as I can remember, and my dad loved them both since they started. Neither of us hated Trek 2009 though there were a few things we both felt could have been done better. I would put it 5 or 6 on my list of best Trek films. Not one of the greats but nowhere near the bottom of the barrel.

Dad died before Into Darkness came out but I personally consider it the worst Trek movie ever released.

As for Abrams directing episode VII I find the idea of Star Wars being in the hands of someone who considers the secret to making good space battles being having them end in kamikaze attacks or turn into boarding actions worrying. This happening occasionally wouldn't be bad but in his Trek movies, which are the only movies of his I have watched with space combat, it happens every single time ships fight in space on screen.

I found the space battle disappointing honestly. It was good while it lasted but I feel that they really needed a third main character who stayed out in space fighting while Anakin and Obiwan boarded the Invisible Hand. Unfortunately since Anakin, R2, and Obiwan were the only main cast members who were primarily combatants there was no one to take that role unless they gave Padme the keys to a starfighter.

I'd like to see "the end" of The Clone Wars animated. I wasn't really done with that when they nuked it for the "New EU."

I'd also not be broken hearted if the "Old EU" got some more stories. I was enjoying the long arc novel series and I'm said that was also cancelled by whatever it is that hack JJ is going to inflict on us.

I'll also join in the pile on for some top flight Star Wars video game.

Space battle was indeed awesome .. right up until the part where a missile exploded and released little robots. I cannot think of a scenario where those little droids would do more damage than an actual missile.

I could see them scattering into a cloud that is harder to evade then a normal missile but not being more damaging.

Giving Padme the keys to a starfighter would have solved the entire problem with the prequels.  Picture her destroying the Trade Federation mothership instead of Anakin while her double deals with the assault to retake the palace.  Perfect.

The problem with Into Darkness is that they tried too hard to compete with the "other" Star Trek II, throwing in too many references to the original, and even lifting entire plotlines, that it pales in comparison.

While missing all the context that made Wrath of Khan great. The idea that Kirk was able to out think and put fight a warlord who had once ruled 1/4 of Earth meant something. Trek was always about the progress of the human species. Khan had legitimately been the smartest, most badass human around during the Eugenics War. Kirk beat him. Kirk beat Khan even after Khan sucker punched him. Because humanity got smarter, better, and more peaceful.

There are echoes of this in Into the Darkness. I am not displeased with the movie. Crucially, though, JJ doesn't seem to understand the material he's working with. He does know the themes he's working with, and doesn't care to follow through on them.

But hey: Bones cured death by using Khan's blood. I'm sure that's something we'll see revolutionizing Federation society.

Honestly I would have been much happier if instead of trying to throw Wrath of Khan elements into Into Darkness he had just done his own movie and left Khan and the other Wrath of Khan elements out of it. Make the insane Admiral the main villain with Khan's role taken by some aide of his who gets killed somewhere along the way.

As it is you get a hybrid of pieces from The Wrath of Khan and the old Original series novel Dreadnought but vastly inferior to either IMO.

I've been thinking more about the SW Mass Effect style RPG. It would be wonderful. Dirty, gritty, wonderful.

As a bount hunter you would build favour with various factions depending on the jobs you select. Completing job A might give you respect from faction X, but lose respect from faction Y. Ultimately, your decisions determine which faction is victorious at the game's conclusion. It could be Rebels or Imps or a smaller struggle between Corellia and Pirates.

We could see iconic SW weaponry utilised again. Who didn't love Dark Forces for that?

Cameos from known bounty hunters such as Boba Fett, Bossk and the like would give you a sense of progression. Obviously, these guys wouldn't care about a no-name scumbag doing low priced odd jobs. But as your reputation develops, they would begin to take notice of this new 'threat'.

We could conduct research on our ship to develop new weapons using parts obtained from other collectables/missions.

I think there is a lot of potential here.

While I wouldn't mind a Star Wars Mass Effect style RPG my own idea for a Star Wars Mass Effect style game had you as commander on an Alliance roving task force.. Start the first game by hijacking an Imperial Frigate, Then roam a sector  performing missions for various groups with the main missions coming from the Alliance. Have a planet or station known as a merc/independent hub and secretly allied with the Alliance as the main hub. (This also allows Imperials to be on the planet trying to recruit people for missions. Throw in some grey areas like Imperial missions which will actually benefit the area the game takes place in but also free up Imperial forces to be used against the Alliance if accomplished.)
