Gadge

Your patience and indulgence please.

Recommended Posts

Im having a collosaaly bad time right now.

Massive family drama/personal stress issue and my wife is very very ill

This forum is my relief and i wont burden you all with any details but talking about wing is keeping me sane.

So please indulge me if i say something stupid or seem to be posting too much as i just need stimuli that *isnt* whats going on in my real life right now.

Noone really knows me in real life on here so its great but i do like chatting to you all.

Im sure i could find lots of hel and counselling forums, and don worry im not here for that but i do need the escapism right now that xwing and chatting about it gives me

so just please indulge me and forgive me if i say anything really stupid as im just not totally with it right now.

cheers

G

Thanks fella.

Ive got really good friends supporting me at home but obviously all the conversations are about my wife and how she is.

Its just good to be able to come on here and talk toy space ships and 'escape' it if you get me.

:)

No problem Gadge! We are here for you.

Don't think you've said anything stupid on these forums.*

I wonder how many waves FFG can make before they have to resort to releasing the Ewok Hang glider in Xwing.

Has anyone seen the DS9 model for star trek attack wing? It's friggin' huge! Now I'm wondering how close to a death star we'll get in Armada. (To all you vader haters out there, we'll blow your planet up!)

Hope things get better soon!

* At least not on the ones i read, ;)

I can help you with escapism, Gade.  If you could turn into any kind of falcon at all, which kind of falcon would it be?  Also, would you prefer to hunt pigeons or seagulls, and why?  Or maybe mallards?  They look delicious...

Peregrine falcon i think :)

I'd definitely go with a gyrfalcon. They're the biggest, strongest falcons and can kill large geese and things. I think knocking geese out of the sky would be tremendously enjoyable. Being a human is so dull in the meals department. No dogfighting at all.

Things are a lot better now.

To apologise for being cryptic i can sort of now say what was up.

My best mate as you know has terminal cancer, thats not going to go away but its always on my mind (see previous threads about raising money by selling off my duplicate cards), my mum who i was estranged from for about 15 years and is now a good mum i love very much needs quite serious neck/spinal surgery and a few weeks back i found out an old school friend had been murdered a year or so ago (it made national news, i didnt notice, we'd not spoke for years but it still upset me).

But the main thing was that my wife was seriously ill and in hospital.  She's recovering now but for a short while I just didnt know what was going to happen to her.    As a lot of you know she's a gamer, shes the keyboard player in my band, shes my genuine soulmate and seeing her so ill was destroying me.  I've barely been online as ive been in the hospital with her every day for as long as they would let me be...  but when i have been online ive been talking about spaceships on here.

As said this place was my 'sanctuary' and i thank you all for being a great forum and great people.

Also many thanks to those of you that sent me kind PMs.

With a little luck my wife will be able to come home next week and I can look after her.   My mate is being stoic as ever about his battle with cancer so i cant grumble if he isnt, my mums less panicked about her surgery and if Sian is home and well i'll be able to go and spend some time with her while she recovers.   Mark being killed... well i cant do much about that but its made me more determined not to lose touch with people.

So, thank you for your patience :)

Normal service resumes shortly.

Good to hear that your wife will be out of the hospital soon. (I'm focusing on the good news here ;) )

And you might be loosing your friend, but you haven't lost him yet.

One of the last things my granddad said before he went was, "It will be a long while, but we'll meet again some day."

So feel free to rage and escape, but try to think positive.

Cheers!
