The moment the 2nd Death Star fired it's super laser, they should just have movedthe fleet to the other side of the Death Star, the one that the Superlaser didn't have line of sight on.  Would have taken them all of like 45 seconds.

Almost certainly. That's why it was so important to destroy the thing before it was finished, so the still had access to the reactor core.

Relatively long and exposed trip (both ways). We don't really get a sense of the firing interval of the superlaser or how long it took Lando to ask for the point-blank attack on the ISDs.

Yeah. Its impossible to tell how long the Battle of Endor actually took. We only see about 8 minutes of it on screen, but it could of lasted 30 minutes to a few hours.

 

If the Imperial had at least the tactical awareness of a JROTC cadet, they would have just committed their 40 or so ISD to simply overwhelm the Rebel fleet in about a few minutes. Screw the Death Star entirely. It would have been an absolute turkey shoot for the Imperials. Hell, they could have destroyed them with half their capital ships at Endor.

Yeah and Piett would have been executed for ordering them to engage, probably along with the captains who followed his order and possibly the crews of every ship in the Imperial fleet. Ruining Palpatine's fun by launching an all out attack when he has ordered the fleet to hold back can't be a smart idea.

Yes, exactly.

Part of the whole point was to show the Emperors both iron and ham fisted command of the Empire. No one would do anything without his approval. Part of this was due to what had to be a truly epic Ego. But also part of it was that everything was based on his vision. I mean he can't go a single scene without telling someone how "all was going according to his plan."

That's the whole reason why the Empire was supposed to fall apart with his death, because he and he alone ran the whole thing, and had kept everyone else far enough out of the loop and weak enough politically and militarily that no one could really challenge him. Which also means no one could take over after he was killed.

I think it was part of Georges plan to make him a lot like Hitler that way.

Yep. Had Hitler listened to his Generals more than he had, WWII would have gone a lot differently. Ironically, his 3rd Reich which was suppose to reign for thousands of years, was ultimately brought down by the man who created it.

They actually did in the novel. A few fighters struck it while they were banking away from their approach and later in the early stages of the battle another ship crashed into it.
