Lordfiredeath 66 Posted March 24, 2015 While we all anxiously wait for new product news, here is an awesome animation in the style of Macross (Robotech for American audiences). This is the expanded version of the clip that has been floating around for a few years now. It. Is. Glorious! I apologize in advance for any who are aligned with the Rebel Alliance. Enjoy! 23 Joe Boss Red Seven, SirWillibald, Stelar 7 and 20 others reacted to this
Mikael Hasselstein 6,896 Posted March 24, 2015 I'll watch this when I get the chance to have audio with it (I'm in a public space right now). However, ... apologies to the traitors of galactic peace and stability?! No, ... just.... No. 1 cvtheoman reacted to this
nathankc 676 Posted March 24, 2015 (edited) so.much.gib.movment. Also - why does the TIE have an air turbine? Edited March 24, 2015 by nathankc 2 jimmius and Funkleton reacted to this
HungryWulf 178 Posted March 24, 2015 I love the nod they throw in to the old TIE-Fighter game with some of the instrumentation (shield/hull indicator on the left, sensor display on the right). 1 cvtheoman reacted to this

jimmius 1,785 Posted March 24, 2015 Pish and Tosh! This is clearly an animated Holovid, made for use as Imperial Propaganda! 4 Hobojebus, YwingAce, VanorDM and 1 other reacted to this
That Blasted Samophlange 6,649 Posted March 24, 2015 The only complaint I have is the music is a little too "in your face" edgy. But I might just be partial to The John Williams score. 4 jimmius, danicusrex, nathankc and 1 other reacted to this
Funkleton 2,510 Posted March 24, 2015 so.much.gib.movment. Also - why does the TIE have an air turbine? I thought that at the beginning too ..... Then I realised that this was so awesome I just didn't care. 2 Kyrios Mirage and Flyingbrick reacted to this
heychadwick 11,354 Posted March 24, 2015 I'd not seen the longer version before. Very cool. 1 Parakitor reacted to this

Jo Jo 4,663 Posted March 24, 2015 This needs to made into an entire series. 2 Kyrios Mirage and Budgernaut reacted to this
PewPewPew 1,083 Posted March 24, 2015 so.much.gib.movment. Also - why does the TIE have an air turbine? The turbine produces the ions required to create thrust. Normally it's turned by electric motors powered by the solar wings, but when flying in the atmosphere the angled blades allow it to receive an assist from the air compressed against the front of you the fighter. This allows ot to function at higher rpms while in atmospheric flight. Which is good because you'll need more force to move an object in an atmosphere than in space (air resistance). Imagine putting pinwheels on the side of your car to to get a little boost to your alternator. Naturally this isn't an efficient process thanks to thermodynamics and TIEs still lose substantial mobility in the atmosphere.Or something.
Resv 77 Posted March 24, 2015 This was fantastic, really hit on not just the "Robotech" aesthetic but also a healthy dose of "Heavy Metal." I would love a regular show like this every week, just the adventures of a TIE squadron kicking ass.

Lordfiredeath 66 Posted March 24, 2015 Fantastic, thanks for that. Makes me love my bombers even more. I second this notion completely. The make great escorts for glass cannons in my opinion. 1 DariusAPB reacted to this
dotswarlock 2,419 Posted March 24, 2015 Great video (I had not seen the extended one either). Something tells me that the referee forgot to double check the army scores before starting the game (3 ISD, 1 interdictor, full compliment of ties vs a compilation of frigates, blockade runners and transports? They never stood a chance!)

Kyrios Mirage 588 Posted March 24, 2015 That was so awesome, my head nearly exploded. Well, I know a certain group of people who are getting shown that later!
Starsoul-klr 66 Posted March 24, 2015 The only complaint I have is the music is a little too "in your face" edgy. But I might just be partial to The John Williams score. There's a good reason they didn't use William's amazing score: It gets a third party match that most of the time leads to the audio being muted. I've seen a shorter version of this that has Williams' score.
Parakitor 5,583 Posted March 24, 2015 That sad moment when all the Y-wings' torpedoes were jammed and never hit the Interdictor cruiser But to be fair, that's exactly what ordnance does in this game, right? 4 DariusAPB, Budgernaut, Lordfiredeath and 1 other reacted to this
Nightshrike 1,810 Posted March 24, 2015 I used this video as an explanation to my 5 year old daughter that girls can be TIE Pilots too... I can't like anything more for the day, but I'll like this and the OP tomorrow. Loved this vid. Girl should have been the interceptor pilot, but whatever, she handled that bomber like a BEAST. 5 Herowannabe, Lordfiredeath, danicusrex and 2 others reacted to this
