Porkins Saves the Galaxy! v2.0

Recommended Posts

Earlier this year, another forum member posted a list with Porkins with PtL, Biggs and two Rooks, and while I thought the list was entertaining, I was thinking of fun ways to improve upon it. So I present to you "Porkins Saves the Galaxy v2.0":

Jek Porkins (26)

Expert Handling (2)

R5-D8 (3)

Hull Upgrade (3)

(34)

Green Squadron Pilot (19)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

Push the Limits (3)

Calculation (1)

(21)

Prototype Pilot (17)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

(15)

x2

(30)

Total: 100

The list offers Porkins accompanied by 3 A-Wings, one of them being a refitted GSP with PtL and Calculation. PtL is the obvious auto-include, but I tossed in Calculation because sometimes rolling a hit and a focus would be nice to turn that focus into a crit sometimes. The two Prototypes can be used for blocking and annoying your opponent's forces in order for you to win the upper hand.

Now to the main event: Porkins. With Expert Handling, Porkins becomes more mobile and a flexible knife-fighter with the potential of 4k-ing and b-rolling for a kill shot/arc dodge, all potentially without receiving a single stress token. One of the reasons why I don't like PtL on Porkins is because without another action other than R5, focus and TL, he just seems to kill himself without offering much in return. So I went with Exert Handling for that extra mobility/survival it offers. Also, giving him the Hull Upgrade makes him beefier (pun intended) and less prone to offing himself at the hands of his own ability.

It is arguable that a B-Wing essentially does what Porkins will do in this list much more efficiently and is off the bat more survivable as is. But Porkins is one of my favorite characters in the entire SW universe and hopefully this list can reflect his heroics on a tabletop far, far away.

I like.

Porkins is actually a good pilot - but the trick is figuring out how to use his ability, because X-wings don't actually generate that much stress....

R5-D8 and the Hull Upgrade are a given - Expert Handling is a nice one, my other thought is Elusiveness to make him a tad tougher.

I'm not convinced by Calculation on an A-wing, but it's not like it's expensive, and you get three very nice fighters to cover him.

I rarely see Porkins or Garven Dreis these days; if I started rebels I'd love to give them a try.

I always go back and forth between Stay On Target or Expert Handling for Porkins.

I've only run him a few times, but I have had a blast with him each time.  There are so many builds these days to try out that I don't know when I'll get around to him again.  I'd love to give him VI and Stay On Target.

I'm not sure about the A-wings as his wingmates.  Maybe Z-95's?
