 So there are four points for an ept on kath, or an EU on Kavil, anyone have thoughts on the list, or where those last four points should go?

I like the thought, but having everyone at 7 means getting to choose who is moving when, who is shooting to take the rebel captive stress etc. I feel like bumping up one guy wouldn't be quite worth it.

I have a very similar list I ran recently and went 2-0 with.

 

Kath (Predator, Engine Upgrade, and Inertial Dampeners)

Kavil (Opportunist, Blaster Turret, R4 Agro)

N'Dru (Lone Wolf, Inertial Dampners)

 

Clearing stress from Kavil is the only problem I have found, and triggering Lone Wolf but that's more for late game than anything. Engine Upgrade and Predator were great in getting targets into the back arc of Kath.

3 ship lists with a Z 95 are 2 ship lists after the second combat round.

Expensive y wings and b wings can be focused down real easily. When running blaster turret, always go with the agromech.

Kath is decent, but that's it. Rest of the list is sub par. Ndru us alright at 17-19 points, but not when he's 1/3rd of a list, same with kavil. I don't see this beating fat turret lists, phantoms, swarm, power trio rebel builds, or 4 B wing lists. Autoceptors would chew this build up too.

I think the idea with PTL & Unhinged on Kavil is that the green 3s are ideal for skirting the edge of the fight and keeping targets out of arc. PTL let's you Focus + TL since you don't have R4. Blaster Turret Kavil is screwed if he gets blocked and it's harder to block the Unhinged green moves than it is to block the white and green moves of the standard dial.

Yeah this is no tourny list by anymeans. but I feel like it could be a lot of fun. I like the idea of the Agromech, but when running ptl, well WWHSD has explained it really well. I think the z will live longer than you think Goomba, a reroll on green with a focus is nice. not awful for a 19 point ship (when it stays at range 2) Kath and Kavil, all I'm trying to do is get them throwing 4 dice a turn with TL. So, yes this can get wrecked by quite a few things, espically a BBBBZ kind of thing, but its a fun one to fly around always trying to get that extra dice each turn.

I played a similar list and so far it's my most successful Scum build I think:

 

Kath (38) + PtL (3) + Engine (4) + K4 (3)

N'Dru (17) + Lone Wolf (2) + Hot Shot (3)

Kavil (24) + Blaster Turret (4) + Agromech (2)

definitely no EU on kavil. He has a turret, why bother. And he really really needs r4.

 

Opportunist is a neat idea for a squad with all the same ps. Then you can focus fire to make your opponent spend tokens. That doesn't mesh too well with ndru though.

I'd look at putting Intertial Dampeners on Kath. The couple of games I played using it on her I found it useful. There's nothing like seeing your target slide right into range 1 of that rear arc, or end up in the perfect spot to block the move you had your dial set to and to be able to say "Nope. I'll stay here thank you."

The times I've faced ndru I've been able to focus him down without him doing much. To gain his extra attack die and the lone wolf ability, players will setup their ships in one corner, and put ndru in the other. If I point my guns in his direction he dies very easily and the lone wolf rerolls don't help much, 2 agility dice with one reroll is still crap.

You're paying an extra 7 points to sometimes roll a bearable amount of attack dice. He'd be decent in a list where he wasn't 1/3rd of it.

Successful 2 and 3 ship builds generally have long lasting, survivable ships in them

. A Y wing can be focused down by pretty much anything in a handful of attacks, and a z 95 same thing. Anything that attacks that y wing is getting damage in on it.

This is the same problem that expensive b wings have. You don't put a third of your points behind a ship that takes almost guaranteed damage every time something shoots at it, because it just becomes a matter of pointing my arcs in your direction and after 4 good attacks you've lost a third of your list. Fat turrets are the exception to this, but they have arc dodging shenanigans and a enough health to the point where it's actually a good idea to put a ton of your points behind it.

I don't agree.  I think OP's Kavil build is cool and will be effective.  Unhinged + PtL is a great idea, and having the engine upgrade means actual arc-dodging possibilities for a y-wing (and with only 1 green die, you need it!).  Now, maybe ppl are worried about staying in range of the blaster turret, but between hard 3 turns (green!) + boost, that shouldn't actually be a problem, or at least, only occasionally...

 

I don't think N'dru adds much to the list, although I don't think its a bad use of 19 points.  Personally I really like the heavy scyk: a spacer with 'mangler' is 20 pts and hits a bit harder plus is about equally durable, green dice depending.

 

So I guess I would lean towards engine upgrade on Kavil.  Alternatively, you could try opportunist on Kath (or even PtL).  Works well with K4 and she already has the engine upgrade to help make the greens tolerable.  Predator is also not a bad choice.

I meant ndru, should have specified. I don't think the jump in PS or the lone wolf and pilot ability is worth the extra 7 points over a 12 point Z wing. It's okay in a list with more ships but he'll get an attack off or two and he'll die.

If you're flying a swarm and you have some extra points left over, make a regular Z into ndru. If you're flying 2 ships and need a 3rd, get something better than a gimped x wing.

:-)  Just me, but I'd throw Cluster Missiles on N'dru...  Might not work, but having essentially a potential 8 dice attack with re-rolls makes some of the bigger ships nervous...  Fun, but not likely a tournament winning thing.  But hey, just my opinion of course...
