LegionThree 418 Posted March 8, 2015 So this is something that I am trying to get together as an all comer list. Fairly tough to do with the amount of lists out there. Explanation follows. BB 100 points PILOTS IG88-B [Predator, Advanced Sensors, “Mangler” Cannon, Inertial Dampeners, IG-2000, Autothrusters] (49) Boba Fett [Veteran Instincts, “Mangler” Cannon, K4 Security Droid, Engine Upgrade] (51) View: http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/206087/bb So I played with dual 88s this weekend and was really impressed. The only thing that the list seemed to lack was a high PS insurance. So I figured Id try to swap one out for Boba. I wanted him over Kath for the PS10, not really his ability. So with this you have B shooting after Boba with his RR on low PS or large targets and Boba hunting the Soontirs and Whispers. Any thoughts on how to make it better would be great. I think that the biggest problem would be against swarm type lists as I imagine Boba dying fast then its the aggressor on everyone. Not sure if that's accurate or not though. 1 Rottenreason reacted to this
Gibarian 436 Posted March 8, 2015 Looks solid to me. The only thing I might tweak is Boba's cannon. Downgrade to a Flechette Cannon (to screw with the Phantoms/Soontirs) and free up points to fill his Illicit slot.
Xicom 5 Posted March 8, 2015 I might put on a different crew member ... the K4 is cool but it doesn't work great with his reroll ability. I might do outlaw tech to make sure you always have a focus on him no matter what 3 Vimnock, Rodafowa and Rottenreason reacted to this
LegionThree 418 Posted March 8, 2015 Gibarian I had a similar feeling. Denying a recloak could be huge. My only concern is the damage output against big ships. I'll have to try and get a few practice games in. Xicom the K4 is really only around so I can slow roll forward boost to adjust my firing angle and still have a TL. Otherwise I agree that other crew can be more powerful.
S4tosh1 3 Posted March 8, 2015 I tried a list similar to that, but with Autoblaster Cannon instead of Mangler. Boba's ability really benefits from you being at r1 from enemy ships, so i figured out it would be a nice idea. VI + Engine Upgrade + K4 + Autoblaster. It's quite beastly, but i didn't use K4 that much. You have to chase and stick to other ships, and it's not like the Firespray has that many green maneuvers.Slowboating from afar with Mangler cannon is nice and good with K4, but it think it doesn't really fit with Boba pilot ability 2 Hawkchief and Thagg reacted to this
Vargas79 415 Posted March 8, 2015 Recon specialist or navigator seem like better ideas for crew. Great build though. I think this is better than dual IGs. I'll be trying these two out for the upcoming store tournament. 1 Hawkchief reacted to this
LegionThree 418 Posted March 9, 2015 What about flechette and gunner to keep the damage consistent. Once your inside R3 you can always use your primary. 1 Rhoaran reacted to this
Lucas McCoy 4 Posted March 9, 2015 I've been running this list as well. I call it "Bounty Bros" and I finished 4th Saturday in a local 30-man tournament.http://xwing-builder.co.uk/view/179209/bounty-bros
LegionThree 418 Posted March 9, 2015 (edited) Ok, I think that this may be a better list than the one that I have up. I took it through maneuvers on vassal and think that swapping to a gunner with stress and moving the Dampener makes sense. BB 100 points PILOTS IG88-B (48) Aggressor (36), Predator (3), Advanced Sensors (3), “Mangler” Cannon (4), IG-2000 (0), Autothrusters (2) Boba Fett (52) Firespray-31 (39), Veteran Instincts (1), Flechette Cannon (2), Gunner(5), Engine Upgrade (4), Inertial Dampeners (1) Lucas I like your list both being at 8. In your tournament did you run into any Soontirs or Whispers? Just wondering how you handled them if you did. Celes 619 Posted March 9, 2015 I really like your second list Legion, Gunner can be really usefull for all the times you boost (which is also while i like it over recon spec). The one thing i would contemplate is moving Inertial Dampeners to IG, but it's a tough call, they can both benefit alot from them.
LegionThree 418 Posted March 9, 2015 I agree that inertial dampeners is hard to choose. On boba you gain the advantage of triggering it late in the move phase. With IG you can still AS and then trigger it.
treybert 893 Posted March 9, 2015 I feel like Boba in this case needs to be as tanky as possible. He will be getting up close with everyone while iggy runs away. Recon spec with 2 rerolls is unbelievably hard to hit well. 3 Vimnock, warrior bungalow and Rodafowa reacted to this
Lucas McCoy 4 Posted March 10, 2015 I did take out a three interceptor list but it was a chore! No phantoms yet.
LegionThree 418 Posted March 10, 2015 Heres what I ended up running for trials. Its 2-0 so far against high PS builds. I haven't played a tanky rebel swarm or full tie swarms yet. == BB == 100 points Pilots ------ IG88-B (48) Aggressor (36), Predator (3), Advanced Sensors (3), “Mangler” Cannon (4), IG-2000 (0), Autothrusters (2) Boba Fett (52) Firespray-31 (39), Veteran Instincts (1), Flechette Cannon (2), Gunner (5), Inertial Dampeners (1), Engine Upgrade (4)
Barf Lonestar 0 Posted March 11, 2015 Did you happen to face any decimator lists and if so how did it work? I've been tinkering with a Boba list all day... This is better than what I've come up with!
Englishpete 1,379 Posted March 11, 2015 I like the list posted two posts up. I still wonder if Kath isn't better than Fett though with a 1 pt initiative bid or Inertial Dampeners for both ships. Her rear arc ability is very valuable against stuff like Phantoms etc where quick kills count.
LegionThree 418 Posted March 12, 2015 Alright guys, Im here with some feedback from testing. Tonight I played 4 games, 3 against dual IG and one against Kath and Eamon. I won all of them although one of the games against IG I was down to 2 hit points left and in another Boba Fett rolled two evades every time slightly skewing results.Against the dual IG all I can figure out is to never take a R3 exchange if you can manage the ranges. You need to be in R1-2 to deny autothrusters and you need to focus fire on a single IG. Preferably B if he is being used. Also Its a good idea to try to bait them with B and attempt to get Fett behind them. FIresprays usually don't live very long against Mangler fire.Against the dual Firesprays I think you need to get rid of anyone over PS6 and then work down. Try to keep your IG alive and throw Boba at them. Overall I am enjoying this list and feel that it may have a shot at being serious. I will not user K4 on a firespray, 4 greens just isn't enough. Gunner, gunner and more gunner for offensive consistency. 1 skotothalamos reacted to this
LegionThree 418 Posted March 12, 2015 Englishpete I would rather run Kath but I don't think I'll ever be able to move after other PS 9's. I decided to just avoid the initiative issue and go to ten with Boba. Also, no decimator yet but manglers wreck then so I'm not too worried.
Thagg 6 Posted March 12, 2015 Oook IG88B? Why B? C version with Fire control system and Push the limit take all actions he can do. Ok my yesterday little tournament list IG88C -Push the limit -Fire control system -Autotrusters -Autoblaster Boba -VI -Recon Specialist -Engine upgrade -Autoblaster Why Autoblaster? Because of interceptors... I destroy 3 of them. Every in 1 Autoblaster shot. Awesome feeling! Next time i'll try Scarlet
LegionThree 418 Posted March 12, 2015 Thag, interesting build with the autblaster. Im glad it worked out for you. I have B because missing a chance to do damage with a two ship build is unforgivable in my opinion. Also were going to see a lot of Fat Hans, Soontirs and Whispers who are stacked on tokens and so the gunner ability helps burn through those. I also prefer Predator over PtL because predator doesn't get turned off and then you can use advanced sensor since you have a soft TL every shot anyway. And Advanced sensors allows all kinds of silliness.
Thagg 6 Posted March 12, 2015 LegionTree that why i take Autoblasters With them i don't care how many evade oponent ship have And really prefer C and this tournament show why. In last game Decimator try shoot IG88C. I carefully fly aout of oponent firing arc, so i always have Evade, Focus and autothrusters So almost always 3 evade per turn This sounds fair for me and with "eye", target lock i think i don't afraid any high agility/evade tokens ship
phild0 1,735 Posted March 12, 2015 I like your list, LegionThree. I can't think of a much better setup. I think no HLC(usually my preference on the IG88) is okay since Fett can beat out the high agility ships that the 4 dice HLC is better at hitting. I really like that the this combo of ships helps cover up some weaknesses that Dual IG88 and Dual Firespray have. I think I'll actually give this a try some time rather than leaving it in my TBD list.
LegionThree 418 Posted March 16, 2015 Here is my report from the Scum invitational in Kearney, NE this weekend. I took: IG88-B (49) Aggressor (36), Predator (3), Advanced Sensors (3), “Mangler” Cannon (4), IG-2000 (0), Autothrusters (2), Inertial Dampeners (1) Boba Fett (50) Firespray-31 (39), Veteran Instincts (1), Gunner (5), Inertial Dampeners (1), Engine Upgrade (4) This tournament was held at Trolls Den and consisted of eight players playing three rounds and cutting to top four. I had thought about bringing a swarm since it was scum only but really wanted practice with this list. Ill keep these brief. Round 1: Mike Mike was running dual aggressors B and C with VI, HLC, IG-2000, stealth device and FCS. Mike wound up getting a turn one exchange after boosting with both ships. He couldnt shoot both at any one target and split his fire. With no offensive tokens he rolled 8 total hits and I rolled 1 evade on 5 dice and got 1 from autothrusters. 6 shields down and I did 1 point of damage back, not a good start. Throughout the rest of this game he kept me on my heels and defeated me 100-0 with both ships down to hull. Round 2: DJ This was my chance to get back on track. DJ had Eamon with 2 proton bombs, a prox mine, ion cannon and cluster missiles and a Y with 2 ion torpedoes. Looking at this I felt good. I had given him init and this shouldnt be a terribly hard match for me. B took the majority of the shooting as I pushed him up the middle while Fett raced up a side. The three evades kept IG alive and I got his Eamon but not before all three bombs went out doing some good damage. I was able to finish off the Y without too much damage. 100-0 win for me. Round 3: ? I cant remember my 3rd round opponents name, Jonathan I think. He was running Laetin, Serissu, an auto blaster Y and a Pirate. He lined up 4 wide across the table and I placed all on the left flank and pushed as hard as I could. I managed to get into range of his pirate with both ships and the only other guy in range was the Y. I focused fire on the Z and blew it up before it shot, then IG dodged the main gun from the Y. Next to go was Serissu, I couldnt let them get rerolls. I got plugged up in the corner for a bit then got out running along his board edge. The next four rounds I managed to kill both his remaining ships with Fett limping away with 2 hp left. Was a close one for the mighty bounty hunter. 100-0 to me. Cut ranking 1st Morgan 4 Y's 2nd myself 3rd Mike from round one 4th Mike R. 4 Y's Round 4: Mike Rematch time, and I didnt plan to lose 6 shields in the first pass this time. We had clustered asteroids in the middle and I set up IG ont he left. He set up mid and I put Boba directly across from him. I did a 3 forward with IG and he went 3 forward and boosted. Fett was gonna do a 2 forward but decided to dampener since he didnt want to take all kinds of HLC in round one, no shots. IG banks in and gets into R1 of his IG's. He decides to Dampener the closest one and then 3 segnor with the other. I think he was a bit frazzled because that S loop left Fett in R 1 behind him. From then on it was my game. Next round I dampenered IG and his wound up on a rock. Fett followed his second and Lit him up and I slowly took his squad apart. Rematch to me 100-0. Finals: Mike R. I road over with Mike and wasn't looking forward to this fight. He had 4 Y's agro mech and ions. I knew that 3 out of 4 games go to his list. All he has to do is get a hold of a ship and its dead. he deployed in a block in the middle and I put one ship on either end. we both slow rolled on one and two. On three I was set to make big 3 banks to clear a rock on his end with both ships. His block turned into IG and I decided not to dampener thinking I would have a 1v1 1v2 situation with his lead Y's. I misjudged and all 4 had shots. No ions and no damage but he got 4 TL's out of it. Between IG doing work and boba getting in behind I killed a Y and mangled another. The game ended when I put Boba on a rock by a millimeter and he could get that sweet rear arc 4 dice focused shot on the Y he just flew past. Leaving that Y left enough firepower to finish IG and then they slowly hunted down Fett who just cant repel firepower of that magnitude. 50-100 loss. Closing thoughts: This was a strong list and will be even stronger in a meta where phantoms will chase off things like swarm and 4 Y's. I think this will handle very well against soontirs and whispers and has enough firepower and rerolls to chew through a fat Han.If you get a chance to run it let me know what you think. blade_mercurial 2,091 Posted March 16, 2015 (edited) I like this idea -- flying two of the most badass bounty hunters in the galaxy is certainly compelling I think the biggest problem for a 2 ship list is you need to maximize your survivability without letting your damage output suffer too greatly. Boba is definitely better than Kath in this regard. But I'm not convinced IG88B is the best choice. I like your Boba setup though - VI, gunner and engine are 'must-include' for the right tools needed to deal with high PS/high agility targets that would otherwise be problematic for an aggressor. With that in mind, I would want the aggressor built to counter swarms and other low PS opposition. To that end, I think perhaps IG88D is a better choice, since he is the only robot that can dodge small ship firing arcs. Here's what I would run: Boba w/ VI, gunner + engine up. IG88D w/ predator, adv. sensors, HLC & autothrusters. I think the HLC is really a must to deal with swarmy z-95 & b-wings, and its still effective against high agility targets (although not quite as good as a B's gunner-like ability). It also doesn't 'turn off' vs. low agility targets (gunner-like abilities are useless vs. low agility targets). So I feel its less 'eggs in 1 basket'. It will be a long while before I get to try it out, because I'm still crazy about imperials atm... Edited March 16, 2015 by blade_mercurial
Deltmi 786 Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) I won a very small Spring Kit tourney (3-0, 4 ppl including myself) using the following list: Boba Fett (51 pts) - VI - Tactician - Autoblaster - Engine Upgrade IG88B (49 pts) - VI - HLC - Autothrusters - Adv. Sensor Here were the 3 lists I played against (all 2 ship builds) 1. Boba and Kath (Imperial) 2. IG88B and IG88C 3. Emon and Kath (Scum) Lessons learned: 1. I need to remember to use Boba's ability. I used Autoblaster a few times, but always forgot to use his ability! My first time using Scum Boba so now I'll remember. 2. I like HLC over Mangler on IG88B. Yes, I don't get to use his ability at Range 1, but I was almost never in Range 1 with IG. 3. Autoblaster on Boba is awesome! Being able to move last, boost to Range 1, and give unavoidable damage is a scary thing. Although, be prepared to take some damage in return! Again, if I would've remembered his ability I probably would've suffered less damage. 4. This build works well against other 2 ship builds. The only tough match was against the dual IG build. You have to concentrate fire on one before going after the other. Edited March 30, 2015 by Deltmi
