Strongholds of Resistance (AOR Location Book)

Recommended Posts

Well, look what got announced today!

Here

I worked on this one alongside Ryan Brooks, Jason Marker, and Sterling Hershey. It was an Andrew Fisher joint. They specifically mention Sullust, Chandrilla, and Mon Cala, all of which I worked on. I can tell you that untangling the mess of canon and legends information that is Mon Cala was a big, big job. I hope you guys enjoy this one!

The link in the first post isn't working for me :(

Edit: found a link in another topic which is working. It looks great I just hope there are some Alliance Sil 7 warships in it. While I prefer sil 5 and sil 6 ships I think that the Alliance sil 7 inventory needs more ships drastically.

I would love to see the MC40a and MC30s along with the Mon Cal corvettes mentioned in WEG but never seen. Perhaps some of the Rebel craft introduced in Star Wars Rebellion will appear and maybe even some Bothan ships since the Essential guide to warfare established that they produced warships in the AOR period.

I suppose Quarren were a given considering the focus but it is a bit disappointing to see them again so soon after Fly Casual, oh well some level of overlap is fine and not everyone buys both lines.

That was probably just due to bad timing.

Fly Casual I believe was pretty delayed, and this book is at least 3-5 months earlier than I'd have predicted it to be announced. The turn-around on most of these books is about a year from when we writers hand in our assignments.

Looking forward to grabbing this when it comes out.

Given that bases are kind of a big thing for Rebel Alliance campaigns, I'm curious to see what new rules content can be offered on that front, particularly since Desperate Allies has been advertised has having rules for the PCs to create bases of their own (wonder how similar those will be to the Homestead mechanics in Far Horizons?)

And hey, Verpine!  Really curious to see how FFG handles that species.

Just gonna go out on a limb and guess that the way you are liking this thread your name is in this one too?

Mon Cala was called Dac in Fly Casual, which I believe is the more commonly used name in the expanded universe  FFG should try to be consistent.

Different people call it different things.

Besides, isn't EU moot now?

Indeed. I wrote the entries for Mon Cala, Chandrila, and Sullust, all of which are mentioned in the article. As for the Dac/Mon Cala naming issue, you have to remember there are two different sentient peoples on Mon Cala/Dac, the Mon Calamari and the Quarren. Seeing as the Free Dac Volunteers were aligned with the Separtists, along with the Quarren isolationist league, I think we can determine that the Quarren refer to their homeworld as Dac, while the Mon Calamari refer to it as Mon Cala. Finally, consider that LFL was in a state of flux as far as what canon is and was when some of this stuff was written what with the establishment of the story group and what have you. The rules might have shifted under our feet in some places.

I.J. funny, I am indeed salivating over things I am writing right now....though I confess that is typical of me.

Ooh Sullust. My hopes of some Sullustan ships like the Dauntless and Liberator cruisers and maybe even the Cutlass-9 patrol fighter are definitely increasing. Plus the mention of an Alliance cloaking fighter makes it sound like this will be the first AOR book with completely FFG created ships in it. EOE has many FFG designed ships but so far everything I've see in AOR has been canon or EU designs so several were never fully detailed until FFG included them in the books.

And yeah given that Quarren and Calamari relationship has never exactly been the friendliest IMO it makes sense that Quarrens would have a name for their world that's not tied to the Calamari
