Neil Blomkamp's ALIEN movie is on!

I mostly agree with this list, however I'd put actually put AVP above Alien 3 and Resurrection.  Alien 3 was LOLLETSKILLEVERYONEAWFUL, while Resurrection was an utter joke of a film.  I'm not saying AVP was good, far from it, but 3 and 4 were painful to watch.

As for the videogames..

1:  Alien: Isolation

Every other Alien / Predator game ever created

One of the reasons I like Alien 3 so much besides the characters them selves is that it was shown that no one is safe in the A/P/AvP/Pro universe.   Believe it or not it was Weavers choice to have Ripley killed in the Alien 3 story.  I agree with the reasoning behind he decision to have her killed as well.  IT was because she felt Ripley in every movie she shows up in and would show in the future, would end up doing the same old same old, devise a plan to deal with an alien that is stalking them, bark orders, and narrowly escape.

The one thing that bugs me is that she has to keep coming back into the stories.  They already have a replicant of her that believes its the real Ripley, then you got the Alien human Ripley hybrids, and now we got Amanda Ripley and the game and all the novels she is in.  They need to leave the Ripleys out of the saga unless they stop making them character clones.

Going back to why I like to how its shown that no character is safe in the saga, I don't know if you've noticed but like 90% of every story in the four mediums has been killed by Aliens.

Besides the Aliens themselves like Warrior LV-1201, or 6, the only characters to survive I recall are Hicks, Winter, in spirit Ripley because of the replicants, Amanda so far I hope she dies though, The Marines on LV-742, Jonesy the cat, Morse was a survivor till they showed in Aliens: Colonial Marines that WY more than likely used him as a host,  Dr. Church, Daniel Grant, Major Lee, Cpl. Hendrickson, Palmer, Deegan.  Even few Yautja survive.

The list might look like a lot but just to sum it up no humans survive AvP 1-3 pc / Xbox, none survive Aliens: Infestation and their around 20-30 human characters in that one.  Most of the novels and comics end with ether all the characters dead, most dead, and a little more than half the time defeat via Aliens.  Salazar VII, its a very important colony world, comes to mind where the humans were using super weapons on the Aliens to retake that world and the Aliens adapted to the chemical weapons and the humans were forces to leave, same as LV-742, LV-1201, LV-426, BG-386, for a good time Earth, all European and Asian nations as well as people where lost, only survivors were off world and or in colonies / fleets from those countries.

I have to disagree with you on Alien: Isolation, the only games that I think it is better than are the movie based games (excluding Alien 3 SNES), Concrete Jungle,  ALIENS TRILOGY (its a tough one because the atmosphere and music were awesome in that game) ALIENS: Thanatos Encounter, AvP Jag.

To me for sure AvP 2 / Primal Hunt, ALIENS: Colonial Marines / Signal Interrupted, AvP: Extinction, ALIENS: Infestation, AvP CAPCOM, and ALIEN 3 SNES are the finest gems in the saga.

Now I don't think ALIEN 3 SNES is the best out of the list of what I think is the best but what make it so good is that it, along with ALIENS: Infestation, play a heck of a lot like Super Metroid.  The SNES revision of the tunes from the ALIEN 3 musical score are freaking awesome as well.  Look up the "game over" sequence for Alien 3.  If I could stream games on Twitch, no mater what series they are from, I would have the game over sequence from Alien 3 pop on the screen when / if I die.  "Destroy all The eggs" is also a very cool track from ALIEN 3 SNES.

So what we can safely conclude is that the Alien franchise is as incoherent of a mess as most of BKL's posts.

Which is why I have BKL as an exclusive member of my ignore list. It makes reading the forums much nicer when I don't have to read his drivel.

I see nothing offensive in your post. However, with all of the thin skined people inhabiting this world, it might be considered offensive....from a certain point of view.

Is it heresy to suggest that Neil Blomkamp is over-rated?  District 9 was a masterpiece, Elysium was pretty good, and Chappie was an incomprehensible mess.  That is not exactly the best resume.  I can always forgive a director a clunker every now and then, but his quality has been going downhill since the beginning.  I'm not suggesting that he is the next M. Night Shyamalan, but I am suggesting that there is a possibility.

Full disclosure:  I think M gets a bad rap.  6th Sense was great, but Signs (while some parts making no sense at all), The Village, and Unbreakable were all fine enough movies.  Agreed that The Happening and After Earth are abominations.  I have not seen Lady in the Water nor The Visit.

AS far as Alien/Predator movies go, I think the hate for Alien 3 and AvP: Requiem goes too far.  I did enjoy Resurrection until about 2/3 of the way through in a "I have zero expectations and I am kind of drunk" kind of way.  Much like the Chronicles of Riddick.  Then it just goes completely off the rails.

chappies problem was the gang was so unlikable but we're on screen most of the film, I know they are a band not actors and it shows they are irritating and I felt nothing but joy watching them die at the end.

Special effects were as ever excellent but that couldn't save the movie.

There were plot holes galore and the idea a company wouldn't want to own and sell the world's first true A.I. is laughable.

But the main issue is that completely awful gang that's in 90% of the movie making it painful to watch.

And yeah there are spoilers but trust me you don't want to waste time or money on crappie it's terrible.

Chappie looked to much like Elysium, artistic wise, so I didn't see it.  The artisict style of the worlds in most of his movies reminds me of the dreams on has during fever nightmares.

Don't let M. Night off easy. You forgot his greatest abomination. The Last Airbender is such a failure in filmaking, on every single level. I mean, there is literally a shot with the camera crew in the ending cut.

As for this film, I would feel more comfortable if he was focusing more on the script at the moment, rather than designs.

M night has been going downhill real fast for years now. The first two were good. Signs was a mixed bag (I like that he came up with aliens that use chemical weapons) Same for the Village. Feeling the same way as the characters at the end (the monsters are all ****! It's all a ******!) is good even tough the ending did make me feel ripped off a bit.

The Happening is a great comedy! I' don't get what all the ha- oh, it's meant to be serious? Really? Ok that just makes it even more funnier! (Yeah that movie is bad)

After earth is made of STOOPID. (fear pheromone tracking aliens? Solution: Sealed combat suits. There. Done. Solved the problem for ya and now you have no movie!)

Short of the toy line based on the cartoon series (wich didn't have figures of ANY female characters) M nights movie is the worst insult done to Avatar.

But the trailer of Devil (written and produced by M; night) didn't even have his name on it. That sais enough, doesn't it?

And guess what...I got a warning on my "Ignore list" post as well. Hmmm, I guess the truth can get you a warning. Who knew?
