Mak's Covert ability and spacing

In the above picture is Mak's Covert ability in effect?  The card reads hostile figures 4 or more spaces away.  Does this mean 4 empty squares or is it 4 as shown in my picture?

 

I always thought 4 empty but I got a lot of push back from a player on my last session.

I don't have the page references handy, but as it is in the picture would trigger the ability. Look up "Counting Spaces" in the RRG.

I think it's like in your picture. That nexu is 4 spaces away form Mak. "4 or more spaces"

Covert ability is in effect as per the rules for "counting spaces" in your example.
