Scheduling the Apocalypse

I knew right away that I wanted a contiguous campaign of one apocalyptic event after another, using each of the four books to create one apocalyptic campaign.

 

Overplanning is a weakness of mine.

 

So, the zombie apocalypse would be the precursor to the Wrath of the Gods, where the robots used to contain the last of the zombies would then have to do combat with legions of whatever deities are involved, leading to the alien invasion and the subsequent robot uprising. THose  robots are really going to betray us. But we all knew that at the start.

 

But when I explained the broad idea to a friend, he suggested that I use all of the Scenarios in each book.

 

This is the current order I plan to run those Scenarios as events:

 

It Ends with a Whisper. This is where it will start on a small scale in a few places where Hollywood says voodoo is practiced. The characters (who will be make believe, not interpretations of the players) will be in one of these locations and will have a big one-shot adventure where they will learn the secrets of the voodoo priestess and why she is so successful. And then, possibly, defeat her.

 

The secrets of her mojo juice that can reanimate the dead will be found in an artifact that seems to have resurrected some form of disease and spread the Pandemic as soon as it is brought back to civilization. This is where the world becomes less recognizable.

 

When a meteor storm, perhaps not as natural as we assume, takes place, a new form of weird zombie shows up. They are different than the others, and as the meteors continue to rain down on out home world, the charters will have to identify and combat the varied forms of undead.

 

The weird, reanimating force (radiation, mutagen, whatever soft science the players will swallow) combines with the viral form of the zombie disease and Under the Skin makes an appearance.

 

The solutions will be up to the players and their character's actions. Once they have begun to get everything under control and get a rare glimpse of hope, they discover that there is…

 

No Room in Hell. This is the beginning of the Wrath of the Gods and will further disguise that transition.

 

The world will be royally screwed for the new gods to whip back into shape.

 

When does that next book come out?

If I had to guess, I would say the next book will not make an appearance till late this year maybe next year. This is pure conjecture though so take with a grain of salt.

 

As for your idea to string all the scenarios together sounds like a good idea. I really like the Night of the Meteor creating the Under the Skin situation. I like this most of all because it is the only scenario that has a "zombie boss" in it. One thing I was thinking is maybe the government (or what is left of it) creates an organism that is released that "eats" the radiation and as always there is a unintended consequence of this that leads to "Under the Skin".

or you could reveal that the voodoo priest were actualy aliens sent to start the zombie apocalypse as a measn to conquer earth.

 

I must admit i'm curious about what scenarios will be in wrath of the gods.

 

Bruce: "Okay we have survived, zombies, aliens, robots. What's next?"

Mike: Alien cyborg zombies?"

GM: "god has come down and witnessed all this silliness. he's pissed of and desides to end these shenanigans."

Mike: "we're up against god? no fair!"

Bruce: "I dunno i think i can take him..."

GM: "this is not D&D, Bruce! You can't just go around killing gods!"

Bruce: "No fair!"

Just convince the rest of humanity to stop worshiping them and they will all die out from lack of faith/reverence. Wrath of the God beaten in one session by apathy!

I like the unintended consequences of the authorities' actions deepening the catastrophe.

For there to be a series of cataclysms, the authorities' efforts to stop the end of days are going to have to be futile anyway.

I don't know what the mechanisms involved in fighting deities will be. Maybe there aren't any and that will be the last book in the series,

I'm actually hoping Wrath of the Gods is the next book. As much as I love zombies (and I do loves me some zombies), I was looking forward to a divine apocalypse so much more!

In the visuals for the line, Wrath of the Gods is next. Not that that confirmation or anything. The visuals have it as Zombie Apocalypse, Wrath of the Gods, Alien Invasion, Rise of the Machines. Whether the visual was meant to denote order remains to be seen.

The color scheme also follows a rainbow order/pattern. Red (Zombies), Yellow (Gods), Green (Aliens), Blue (Machines).

I imagine my favorite will be the least popular. Wrath of the Gods.

I'm betting the most popular will end up being either Zombie Apocalypse or Alien Invasion.

Wrath of the Gods seems the weirdest to me. I like it but it doesn't seem mainstream, even among the gamer niche

 

Zombie Apocalypse or Rise of the Machines either one seem to have the broadest appeal, though I could be underestimating Alien Invasion. Mars Attacks! has been a popular franchise for years.

 

I am getting them all, though.
