Question about zombie "damage"

Recommended Posts

Hello! Newbie here. My friend and I just got the game and we were going through a small scenario to get ourselves warmed up and familiar with the system.

I'm trying to stay out of everything but the core rules as much as I can as my friend wanted to GM this one, so I admit that my knowledge is limited. However, we came across one problem that seems pretty glaring to me, unless I misread something...

For this scenario, we were on a cruise ship, and my friend chose the time-tested "infected" zombies. The first two we faced were no problem, but eventually we got to the "boss", if you will, the "infected prime".

In short, we were in extended combat. To my knowledge, zombies only recieve one positive attack die; zombies only roll 1d6. Which means, to my knowledge, they only do a maximum of 1 damage. If my first stress track gets filled, I gain 1 resistance.

We came up with a few ideas, but in the end we decided to just give the Prime Zombie a +2 to damage, and it dislocated my shoulder.

I know the book suggests rolling zombie attacks into a "mob attack" (3 zombies = 3 dice). My question is, does the book specify how much "damage" a zombie does? Did we miss a rule somewhere? The way it seems now, if we fill our stress track, according to the rules we are physically immune to individual zombie damage, which seems a bit off.

(I recognize the irony in asking rules in a narrative ruleset, I'm just curious!)

When rolling the zombie attack damage inflicted is equal to every uncancelled success.

That being said, a zombie's attack should generally be more than 1 positive die. All zombies tend to have features which should apply to their attacks. Relentless, horrifying, supernatural athleticism, and so on. As long as you can make a case for it, a feature can apply to an attack. More dice mean more chance for damage.
