Thanks Fortold! Would you or anyone else in your area like to start a group for this store? I figure stores can be looked up online, so its the awesome communities of players we're trying to create a list of here.

I just recently created a page for gamers in Victoria, BC on Vancouver Island. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1563263313953049/

Added to the list.

I do not have any serious x-wing players that I know of in my area.

However, me and a friend of mine have the starter kit on pre-order.

So, anyone in the Nashville, TN area?

I know I ran into a couple Nashville X-Wing players at a store championship this year, but I'm not sure if that was at Chattanooga, Greenville, or one of the early-ish Atlanta ones. I'll see if I can't track that info down.

After lurking for quite some time, I'm signing up to say that the Monday Knights wargaming club, in Hawthorn East, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, have quite a few members really excited about Armada. We'll be playing friendly games at our weekly Monday night club meets, as well as occasionally on weekends, and attending the local tournaments once that gets started.

In fact, one of our "pet" retailers, who gives our members a discount and always takes care of us, has arranged to bring a bunch of core sets, including all our preorders, to a BBQ at a member's house on Saturday the 28th, the day after release. We'll be opening boxes and learning the rules as we go.

Any Melbourne based Armada players should check out our club website, including forum for arranging games:

Added, do you have a group online to help people find you?

Well, I am more in search of a group. Burlington Ontario Canada if any one is nearby.

Did you and Wes Janson get anything coordinated?

Welcome to our first group in Australia! On the list anyway. So if I were to format your group the same as the others on the list, would it be "Hawthorn East, Melbourne, Victoria"? Not being from Australia I'm not sure if your addresses are super specific or if you're listing multiple cities. Get back to me please and I'll edit the post.

Ah, sorry for the confusion. We're an open group of gamers, a club. Just the one location. Hawthorn is a suburb of the city of Melbourne, in the state of Victoria.

There's a bar that didn't have any customers on Monday nights, so they agreed to let us take over one night a week. A few of our members have RSA licences (responsible service of alcohol) so we volunteer to run the bar for the club. The bar makes money from us having a few beers with our games. We get a great venue at no cost.

We have a club tradition that if you beat someone, you buy them a beer. You either win, or drink free. Either way, you're not really losing.

I hope I'm not the only Aussie on the forum. The Monday Knights have a good sized membership, but we always welcome new players.

I like it :) Well I edited your listing to reflect the new information. Now I know who to look out for if I'm ever down in your end of the world.

So, as we're getting these FB groups (&etc.) started, I'm curious how well it's spreading. I chose to do my FB group as a closed group, so that I could have a greater sense of buy-in by the members, and license to spam them ().

Thus far I've got 32 members, of which 2 were involuntarily shang-hai'd in order to create the group, and 20 of which joined this last week when I announced/reminded people that the group existed and Armada was about to be launched.

Who of you also have member counts on your groups?

What plans do you have for product launch?

Because I'll be out-of-town when Armada hits the shelves, I'm unable to organize anything, but I do plan to be involved in events when I get back. As you've realized, I'm also trying to create enthusiasm by way of HNN. We'll see how well that works.

So my site is a page rather than a group, and has an average following of about 11 people so far. I'm hoping that increases over the next few days since I've started advertising the page at my FLGS. We're holding a launch event at said store next Saturday that from the sounds of it should have excellent turnout, mostly thanks to word of mouth rather than the page itself. We are planning on holding a mini tournament that day with a prize provided by the store and I'll be using the event to drive interest for the page.

That sounds superb. If I was home when it came out, I'd be pushing my FLGSs to do the same.

It'll be interesting to learn how much the event helps you grow your page's watchers, or what kind of turnout the event gets.

Colorado will have a group playing out of the Wizard's Chest - they have already ordered the season 1 kits and will hold nightly events.  The casual X-Wing group that plays on Wednesday nights will be turned into a general "Star Wars" board game night, to include all of FFG's board games, from the card game, to X-Wing, to Armada and Assault.

I am sure other stores in CO will be supporting it, but I personally only know of the Wizards Chest, in Denver proper.

So we had a great turnout at the launch event. We had about 10 people come out and play 12 games over 8 hours if I remember the stats correctly. Mostly we had learn to play games to get everyone familiar with the mechanics, but also had 2 full on 180 point games that were pretty intense. 2 people who came were from in store advertising, but the rest were either personal invites or saw the event on the Facebook page. Two of our attendees (and you know who you are you awesome people you) were actually forum lurkers who without saying anything in advance saw the group listing, checked out the Facebook event, and just showed up out of the blue. We've decided we've got enough people to get a bit of a league going on Saturdays so we recorded the games that took place today and will apply them to whatever system we draw up on the soon to be created private group for those who attend regularly. Additionally the store owner was impressed with turnout and enthusiasm, so she will be giving league members an exclusive discount for Armada products, which is pretty awesome because she runs an incredible store but gives very few discounts. All in all I'd say the event was a complete success!
