Really, FFG?

Recommended Posts

There was a big rant here about missing miniatures (as in, all of them missing) but it turns out that for some reason they put them under that cardboard insert that fills up most of the box. I don't really understand why they did that, but the important thing is I actually did have the minis after all. I suppose if anyone else has any missing figures (other than the AT-ST, only have one) I'll just give them my extras.

In my defence this is the first time I can recall ever seeing a company put anything under one of those inserts. I shook the box a bit at one point but didn't hear anything, so I didn't check under the insert.

I was mad yesterday, now I just think it's hilarious.

If it helps there is a token for General Weiss that you could use as a (vastly inferior) stand in for the AT-ST. I could be wrong, but I don't think there are any mission that require both the standard AT-ST and Weiss together.

There is one.

So back on Boxing Day I went to my LGS and bought Imperial Assault and some other things. I was pretty eager to play it, but I had work that night so it wasn't going to happen. The unfortunate part is, it still hasn't happened because FFG didn't include any of the miniatures in the box. Luke and Vader were there, but nothing else. So I tell the store and he sends an email to FFG, but they were out of the office for about a week (counting from when the email was sent). They eventually get back to the store in early January and tell him they'll ship him the minis free of charge. Yesterday, they arrived while I was at work. Today, I went to pick them up. And I still don't have the AT-ST. I read the email that was sent to FFG, so I know that they were specifically told that I only had Vader and Luke. So now if I play I have to skip missions involving the AT-ST or try to figure out something to represent it's base on the table, neither of which I'm exactly pleased about. At this rate by the time I actually have the components that I already paid for I'll have lost interest in the game, because since December my copy of Imperial Assault has just been sitting there on a shelf, doing nothing.

And yes, either I or the store owner will be contacting customer service. But we never should have had to in the first place, and to have to do it twice for the same problem is just not acceptable.

I just read your post, are you sure the minis weren't included?  Did you check under the cardboard insert?  My friend had the same reaction until I told him it was under the cardboard insert.

Just checking, if its legitimately not there then obviously do what you gotta do with FFG support, they should take care of you.  Its very rare for them to make this kind of mistake.

I am curious; why didn't you just return the game to the store and get a different one?

You say that by the time you get all the components, you will have already lost interest, but the store could have waited after they replaced your copy.

It's a bummer to have to wait, but give them a break. I think it's pretty awesome that FFG was even willing to replace every figure in a game that has a skirmish mode. Imagine if you were FFG and someone claimed that you failed to include a main component of the game... a main component that most (if not every) players want more of.

Also... surely FFG has computers that weigh the boxes before they go out to ensure the correct weight? (One dice, a figure, something broken, that's understandable. But all 30+ figures?)

Thanks, Hida77. I have no idea why someone would put the minis there when they fit perfectly well with the cards and such but I do in fact have a lot of minis now.

Hoosteen, I actually did ask if the store would replace the box but he wanted to contact FFG to see how they wanted it done. If they aren't willing to credit the store for the product then he'd be losing money for something he had no control over, and since missing components is beyond his control I can't really blame him for not doing that. Also you're probably right about the computers weighing the boxes, but Imperial Assault was somewhat rushed to make it out by Christmas so we figured mine was a victim of that rush. Which it apparently wasn't, but still.
