They stole the walker!

Recommended Posts

Okay, keep in mind that my group is anything but beginner (either at the FFG engine, in terms of experience points or in regards to RPGs in general), so we are NOT the target demographic for the box. Also, I used the boxed set game as a smaller portion of a much larger game. So, given all that. . . .

They stole the freakin' walkers in the garage at the start of the game!

Okay, one more further point of clarification - my game is some 4,000-ish years before Yavin. So instead of Imperials, they were Mandolorians and instead of AT-STs they were Basilisk War Droids. But the end result was the same: they were doing recon on the base, saw the War Droids in the garage and instantly went "I want one!". So when they cut the fiber transmission line to the Comms array and the guards came running to investigate, they ran right into the gun sights of the freshly rebooted War Droid.

It went poorly for the Mandos after that. . . .

The War Droid really didn't have an effect on the rest of the game beyond that initial fight and waiting outside for it's new owner to return. But they did get it on their ship and all the way back home, where it now sits on the corner roof of the bar they own.

That's awesome. I might be able to go one better though. My group convinced Sarev to become a double agent for the Alliance, with some downright unbelievable dice rolling (all blanks on the evil dice) and some top-notch roleplaying to boot. Only one fatality too. The few other victims were Splinter Cell-esque silent, non-lethal takedowns.

EXCELLENT!!

It's a player's job to throw the GM a curveball, especially in this game. My fellow player suggested something during the BBEG (sort of) showdown of our first planet hop.. Roll initiative, first turn done,,,,next turn, sliced into the Security System,,, blew the BBEG away, Done, XP and Credits all 'round!

Most impressive! EU has it right, players should be throwing just as many curveballs as the GM, and pulling a Wraith Squadron by stealing everything that isn't nailed down (and a few things that need a crowbar to be that way) is one of my favorites.

Although it was an Edge game, my players did something similar when raiding a bacta convoy. I expected them to cripple a Citadel-class freighter and empty the hold. I didn't expect them to cripple the freighter, bolt it to their own ship, and make one of the most difficult hyperspace jumps ever so that they could add the ship to their fleet!
