HR Crowley 0 Posted June 23, 2009 Howdy, If one were to cast aforementioned spell in the final battle with the AO does the bonus apply throughout the entire battel? Or does the effect ware off during the 'upkeep' phase before the players make their attack, thus forcing one to attempt to cast again? The wording has got me somewhat confused. Thanks in advance. --HR Crowley
Dam the Man 84 Posted June 23, 2009 Spells must be cast again each round during Final Combat. Good luck with the 2 Sanity Cost . Of course, the -2 casting modifier could mean you fail to cast the spell, and it will still "eat" those 2 hands for that round.
Victimizer 0 Posted June 23, 2009 Also, since you first pay the sanity cost and then do the spell check, you will lose the 2 sanity regardless of success as well.
RedMageStatscowski 117 Posted June 23, 2009 It's good if the Ancient One's attack only drains Stamina or some other non-Sanity counters. It's not recommended to be used against those who eats up Sanity.

RedMageStatscowski 117 Posted June 23, 2009 Well if the ancient one eats you as soon as you get 0 sanity, you're trying to conserve sanity and not waste it. Waste it on someone who's not interested in the insane, of course keep your sanity at 1.
Tibs 184 Posted June 23, 2009 Part of why I love Hastur. To inflict maximum damage against him sometimes requires you to lower your defense stat (Luck) and spend your life resource (sanity). He's one of my all-time favorite AOs.
Dam the Man 84 Posted June 24, 2009 Only ones I don't really mind having to use combat spells (preferrably Wither/Shrivelling > DCoA) against Hastur are Carolyn Fern (thanks to her ability) and Sister Mary (thanks to her nice Lore/Luck slider). +1 Lore or Luck skill (or appropriate Ally) will also make several others viable candidates. Haven't yet seen all the IH investigators and my next Hastur game is a minimum of 43 games away, so it'll be a while before I see them in action . Dam: I see you use the acronym IIRC quite a bit. I am usually pretty acronym savvy (I work for the Dept of Defense, it is a requirement) but I am unfamiliar with IIRC. What does it mean? Thanx!
