"Don't You Want ABZZZ?"

Recommended Posts

I’m hoping to participate in a few more tournaments this year, and with the first store championship in my area coming up soon, I’m still trying to settle on a squad to fly. Below, I’ve come up with a couple variations on an ABZZZ list that I have not yet had a chance to try out. Would anyone like to offer their advice on whether one looks more viable than the other, or whether I should just start from scratch on a different kind of list?

1. Tycho Celchu (A-Wing) (26)

-Push the Limit (3)

-Chardaan Refit (-2)

-A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

-Daredevil (3)

                                                            (30)

Ibtisam (B-Wing) (28)

-Elusiveness (2)

-Sensor Jammer (4)

                                                            (34)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (Z-95) x3 (36)

100 pts

Tycho with Push and Daredevil is crazy fun to fly around, so I’d hope to flank with him and harass the enemy fighters, ideally while staying out of their firing arcs. I figure Ibtisam would support the Zs and be a bit of a pain to fire at. I would have liked to fit Jan onboard, but there just isn’t room, unless I replace Tycho with VI + Outmaneuver Jake, for example.

2. Jake Farrell (A-Wing) (24)

-Veteran Intincts (1)

-Chardaan Refit (-2)

-A-Wing Test Pilot (0)

-Outmaneuver (3)

                                                            (26)

Keyan Farlander (B-Wing) (29)

-Push the Limit (3)

-Advanced Sensors (3)

-B-Wing/E2 (1)

-Jan Ors (2)

                                                            (38)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (Z-95) x3 (36)

100 pts.

With this build my flanking A-Wing might have a little more punch, if I can keep him out of arc. Keyan would also provide a bit more offense and flexibility in my B. The idea in giving him Push and Adv. Sensors is to allow him to get stressed even if he needs to take a white maneuver, but I wonder if that’s really necessary most of the time. Would I be better off giving Keyan VI instead of Push, and Jake Predator instead of VI? (Unfortunately, I've only got one VI to go around.)

Lastly, it could turn out that I will not actually have access to a third Z by the time I would need to compete. In that case I thought I might replace it with a Refit Prototype A. For #1 I could then replace Tycho with VI + Outman. Jake, and for #2 I could drop Jan.

Any constructive advice would be greatly appreciated. I still feel rather inexperienced, so it could be that I’m missing something that’s glaringly obvious to others. For example, I’d be throwing at least eleven red dice with either build, but with so many two-attack ships, I wonder if that’s actually likely to be enough.

I see your thinking of putting daredevil on tycho...if you REALLY wanna have some fun put TWO ptl's on him

i love these rebel swarm lists but in the current meta they can be tough. the high PS, predator and/or fat hans carve through the smaller ships. or if they focus on oyur main offensive threat (the bwing) then you dont have a lot of firepower afterwards

the best competitive rebel swarm list that ive seen given the current state of things is: 4x BSP +bandit

nothing sexy about it and kinda bland but even against high PS builds its effective. This is mainly because the a lot of the current builds only have two maybe three ships. youd be throwing 5 ships with a total health value of 36 while also sporting 14 red dice. I ran it against a Deci pahntom list and wrecked it. focus fire for the win

Thanks for your input; I was afraid that would be problem. :/ It might be back to the drawing board for me.

And unfortunately I do not yet have an Experimental Interface, though I am aware that it would make Tycho even crazier. :)
