Phoenix Guard 0 Posted November 26, 2008 Character: Akuma 6 x1 Character Blocks: Akuma 6 x1 Sagat 4 x3 Assets/Actions: Ready for Anything x4 Kung-Fu Training x3 Attacks: Hurricane Kick x4 Nisho Kyaku x4 Zessho Hoho x3 Tiger Fury x4 Toro Zan x4 Akuma's Shoryureppa x2 Foundations: No Memories x3 Silver Spoon x3 Teenage Champion x4 Blinding Rage x4 Sensing Weakness x4 Bitter Rivals x4 Sting Like a Bee x4 Manifest Destiny x4 Constructive criticism and suggestions are appreciated. Used only Domination but not keeping it exclusively so and planning it for Block 3. Nisho Kyaku and Hurricane Kick have proven to be effective from what i've tested so far and naturally Tiger Fury + Kung-Fu Training for finisher or heavy hit if needed. babelfish666 7 Posted November 27, 2008 Try dropping Toro Zan in favour of a better fire attack, Toro Zan, while good if youre Yang, isnt particularly impressive if youre not him, and it doesnt even have a block on. Instead try something different like Willow Splitter, its a good attack with good stats and a nice block, it also gives you a slightly different option, and with a few momentum is easy to play in your opponents turn. Zero Cross 0 Posted November 27, 2008 I would replace Sensing Weakness with Adoration. Adoration has a nice mid block and can make your attacks more difficult to block when compared to Sensing Weakness. Also be aware that you have alot of 4 control check cards and several 5 or high difficulty cards. While the cards that you do own have good abilities you want to make sure that it won't be too difficult to play the cards you want, so you may want to consider taking out some of the cards you think are less useful and put in foundations with low difficulty and at least a 5 control value. Phoenix Guard 0 Posted November 27, 2008 Changes made from the current feedback i've read: Changes made based on suggestion by babelfish666: I don't have any SC product but this seems like a decent choice. Toro Zan x4 > Furious Feet of the Phoenix x4 Changes made based on suggestion by Zero Cross: I actually haven't had a problem with checks but it's probably a good idea to bump up the CC anyway Sensing Weakeness x4 > Adoration x4 Sting Like a Bee x4 > White Magic x4 Manifest Destiny x4 > A Samurai's Life x4 Silver Spoon x3 > The Tae Kwon Do Zephyr x3 Comments and suggestions welcome as always. Note: It would be nice if I could edit my OP
Zero Cross 0 Posted November 27, 2008 Personally I would keep the Manifest Destinies, well as long as you have several cards that match at least 2 symbols with the character. It combos well with cards such as Kung-Fu Training or any card you block with. This helps with Akuma's board control aspect and will make it easier attacks like Tiger Fury to get through. I also like the inclusion of White Magic since you have cards like multiples. A good attack if you have it is Melancholic Mercurius from SNK Cutting Edge; it runs Fire and Evil, multiple 2 and a static speed boost effect.
Phoenix Guard 0 Posted November 27, 2008 Switched A Samurai's Life for Manifest Destiny. Might move ASL to sideboard not quite sure yet. Took Furious Feet of the Phoenix out for Melancholic Mercurius but to be honest i'm wary about the 2 CC. Now that a little under half my attacks have multiple: 2 i've been considering this: Savage Fighter - (2/5 Split Card 1diff) Chaos/Fire/Good E Commit: Your attack gets +5 damage. Only playable if you have at least three attacks in your card pool. The action side is for reversals which i'm not playing but it might not be bad to splash in 2 of these. Zero Cross 0 Posted November 28, 2008 You don't need to have 4 of the Mercurious, in fact you can take out 1 Hurricane so that there are three left and then add in 3 Mercurious so that would be a total of 6 2 checks which isn't too bad. The difficulty cost for your multiples is only a 4, so checking a 2 isn't so bad as long as your board isn't empty. I agree with the Savage Fighter as well. I can't believe I forgot about the card. Put it in if you can.
Phoenix Guard 0 Posted November 29, 2008 Took out 1 Melancholic Mercurius, 1 Hurricane Kick, and 1 Ready for Anything and added in 3 Savage Fighter. Looks like it might be ready for some field testing. Gonna see if I can hit a local tournament and see how it goes. Thanks for all the help provided it's much appreciated. Mind explaining your suggestions. Specifically how I can run 7 Bitter Rivals and why I should take out a finisher?

Phoenix Guard 0 Posted December 7, 2008 whoa >_> amazing is right but that's nearly a completely different build than what i got going. Looks good but I wanna try what i've got atm and I kinda don't have many of the cards listed (around 8 tops). I will give this a shot just not right now. Zero Cross 0 Posted December 7, 2008 It's definately much more of a full control deck-one shot kill, and so much more expensive to make. However, it has really good odds to work. I just wouldn't want to spend so much if your just playing for fun.
