Pairing Corran Horn with Y-Wings?

Recommended Posts

Got an idea for the following squadron...

Corran Horn + R2D2 + Fire Control System + Push the Limit + Engine Upgrade

Gold Squadron Pilot + R2 Astromech + Ion Cannon Turret

Gold Squadron Pilot + R2 Astromech + Ion Cannon Turret

96/100

In theory, the Y-Wings clog up the middle of the game with their turrets while Corran hunts down targets, hits them - hits them AGAIN - then escapes to build up his shields.

Any advice?  I haven't been able to test it yet.  I'm wondering if I should ditch Corran's Engine Upgrade for the purpose of adding upgrades (Shield/Hull Upgrade?) to the Y-Wings, but I'd like to keep him as manuverable as possible.

When Scum releases you'll have enough points to put a Seismic charge on each of the Y-Wings. You could also put a Flechette Torpedo on each of the Y-Wings. If the first Y-Wing ionizes the target have the second one stress them.

I hadn't even considered adding flechette torpedoes.  Thanks!

Consider R7-T1 over R2D2 and engine upgrade. That gives you more action economy and saves 5 points. Shave off 3 more somewhere and you could have a Z95 in there.

R7-t1 is pretty situational though. Not neccasairly the worst thing but it's something to consider.

I've thought about sacrificing some upgrades to add another ship, but I don't know how much good throwing a Headhunter into the mix would be.  I'm still a little wary of such a small squad, though.

The list has floated through my mind several times but I'm not sure how i feel about that combo of only three ships, Corran is elusive but I'm not sure the rest of the list punishes your foe enough for focusing on him

You're absolutely correct - Corran will definitely serve as my opponent's primary target.  Because of that, I'm pretty set on the idea of having R2-D2 as part of my squad.  It will help to facilitate his unique "full-on attack one turn, full-on defense the next" strategy.

I really need to just playtest it and report back!
