Star Wars Rebels Discussion [Possible Spoilers]

Recommended Posts

Actually, that might be the beat cu de gras attack ever. How many times in the films have we seen two force users locked face to face, blade to blade. In that clasic pose, Ezra shoots them. I hope that happens at least once, it would make my day.

Except that's not something I believe any Jedi would do.

Han Solo did it once ...

Well all I can say is about time. Everyone had a real gun except Ezra. I am seriously sick of his electro slingshot thing. Though props to the writers for making it nearly useless.

To be fair, Ezra really hasn't needed anything lethal before he met up with the Ghost crew so the energy slingshot does make sense.

I don't disagree, but there were a few scenes of everyone else usefully killing stuff and Ezra was unable to do more than irritate. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to killing storm troopers, he has worn that armor and met trainees.

I am really liking the show. We have a broken Jedi who is trying to come to grips with his undisclosed past. A Twi'lek pilot who for unknown reasons decided she could do better than dance and in all fairness can make her ship really dance . An (apparent) underage Mandalorian graffiti artist who sidelines as a Pyromaniac mad bomber . An astromech who is in so much of a need of a memory wipe that he has become psychotic and likes to pull wings off mynocks .A really laidback dingo herding guy who likes banging stormtroopers together as hard as possible because he likes the crunchy noises they make on impact and a kid with a sling shot and a deathwish against a scary looking Imperial Inquisitor who needs some serious dental work. So much adult stuff hidden in this show if you can free your mind and look beyond the marketing. It has top priority on my dvr and all episoides are set to keep until I delete.

@Stelar 7: It would depend on the person they are using it on.  It would be pointless to use it on some like Vader and Sion.  Other force users that have learned how to absorb things with the force can defend themselves using that ability.  Then theirs the normal sense abilities they are trained to use, if they are focussing they shouldnt be in a position where they wont get shot.  This all depends on how tuned to the force Ezra is.  It may come down to a battle of wills.

@Revanchist

I could see Anakin doing it.  In the last season he went grammaton cleric on a bunch of weapons dealers.

Just watched the episode! That was awesome! Really want to know what stupid thing Ezras saber is going to pull off, or if it just is such a hunk of junk that all that extra stuff was necessary for it to function.

Ezra's saber is also a blaster pistol. Good idea if you ask me, having a melee and ranged weapon in one package. After all, it works for Zeb with his Bo-Rifle.

Are you jumping to that conclusion based on it's appearance, or did you read that somewhere?

Ezra's Saber is described in the Star Wars Rebels Visual Guide. The circle at the top of the handguard is the barrel of the pistol.

You can see the basic idea of how it is supposed to work from the toy version on Amazon.

Looking at that picture, it seems it can shoot from the bottom in addition to shooting straight.

I just saw one on my on demand. So much goodness. Landoooooo!

@ Black Knight Leader, re blaster saber. Those force energy absorption abilities are no joke, but also not easy to execute. My understanding from reading the Darth Bane series, ( get it if you haven't) is that when two masters fight anything one can do to slightly distract the other can lead to the win.

Now Ezra, no master, then agsin the Inquisitor is no Sith either.

I suppose.  I have lots orf SW books, most are not novels however.  I actully bought that Bane novel for my friend BUT after reading it he found he hates Bane and the rule of 2 LOL.  He was talking about writing up a Force user group that only uses guns and long ranged weapons.  Its cool...

In regards too Vaders and Sions force ability that keeps them from leaving their bodies / material realm how freaked do you think Ezra would be if he ran into a guy like Sion or Vader.  Besides being a freaky moment do you think he would be tempted to find out how they learned such a force ability?

I'm really loving the show so far. I definitely is a kid's show, so there is always some sort of goofy thing that is in the episode that I don't particularly care for, but kids (mostly) will.

Last night's goofy was the Puffer Pig.

But you know what? I get to watch with my 10 year old twin girls, and they absolutely LOVE it! They've seen most of the movies and were somewhat fans of the movies and Star Wars in general, but they absolutely love Rebels. So I have no problem with them creating a kid's show, since that what will get actual kids interested.

For instance, they much preferred last night's fun swashbuckling romp with Lando than they did the previous episode that was so Force/Yoda heavy. I enjoyed both, for different reasons.

I've got to say, though, last night was the kind of Star Wars fun I always wanted to see more of as a kid, that didn't really exist at the time.

I dig that we are seeing Rebels, but not a "Rebel Alliance". Right now, for all we know, there are only 100 people in a dozen cells trying desperately to convince people there's a big enough problem to be worth fighting against.

Lando? Yeah, he's a scoundrel. Not even a scoundrel on the side of the good guys. To him, the Empire is just the local government, people who want to stop him from doing what he wants. Empire? Republic? It's all the same.

I also love that the Idiot's array was a preexisting hand, and not just invented to be a clever metaphor for the episode. :)

Yeah, and as such canonized it!

I also just watched the show. Like most things in Rebels, there were some things that I would have done differently had I been in creative control (such as make Lando look and move more like Lando), but overall I really liked it - including the Puffer Pig, which was goofy but fun.

Nope, that's just the storage for the extra blue dart thingies you get with the toy. It only shoots from the round orange part at the top of the handguard.

How are so many people seeing these shows a full week ahead of schedule?

And for that matter, I hate it when shows get into this thing where new episodes are every 2 weeks instead of every week.

Pretty much Disney XD online, I have to log in through my cable provider.

After the holiday break we had other stuff that was sort of blocking the primary time slot, so instead of airing  at the normal times they skipped around it. Hopefully they will be back on schedule to air it each week.

Thing about Disney though, I am/ was following Ultimate Spiderman with my DVR till they changed it to Ultimate Spiderman: Web Warriors, really has me irritated as this is my background noise while I am painting and doing side projects.

Check online as well. I know that there are websites out there that have the episodes of Rebels up for viewing just after Disney XD puts them up on their website. The site I use for this when I'm away from my TV is www.animeflavor.com. They have Rebels and a lot of other cartoons there available for viewing for free. Edited by zathras23

Just saw  "Call to Action". Pretty dark episode for kids 10 and under. Tarkin seems a bit more ruthless in this episode than in ANH.  This is one of the best episodes so far IMO.

Something else I notice in this episode. The higher the rank of the individual, the music played is closer to the original Imperial March when they arrive.

Did not notice that. Thanks for the heads up. I will have to pay attention next time I see it.
