Cununculus 661 Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) In several threads the need for more moderators was mentioned. Several forum members thought about letting several forum members themselves. While still lurkin I followed several threads which got derailed by fights, or going conpletely away from the original post. Would, or wouldn't, it be a good idea if you could lock your own threads? Parravon 5,217 Posted January 3, 2015 The concept of the forum is open discussion. I think it would possibly be counter productive, if it got to the stage where if you didn't like someone else's point of view or argument, you could just lock your thread. However, I'm suspecting that FFG could possibly be a bit more proactive in moderating, because I have seen some topics disintegrate into some really petty bickering. I still feel it should be FFG's call, not the OP. 3 haslo, Katman and All Shields Forward reacted to this

It might be counterproductive in some cases, but wouldn't that expose the original poster as somewhat immature? Who will react to your posts any longer if you lock them as soon as you don't agree? Way too easy to use for trolling.I see what you mean. Call someone out and then lock your thread. These things should be forwarded to a FFG moderator. Parravon 5,217 Posted January 5, 2015 There's been a few here in the past that just post here for their own trolling amusement. And there's been a few that have been unceremoniously kicked off as well, and I suspect possibly more than once. Some take things way too seriously, sometimes to the point they begin to lose the ability to behave in a rational way, and tend start making personal attacks. If you start a topic and it start to turn pear shaped, there's always the "Unfollow this topic" button. It's sad when some comments turn out to be like a red rag to a bull for some folks, but that's human nature I guess.
Filthy Pierre 110 Posted January 5, 2015 It just needs decent moderators who are active on the board. I used to be a forum moderator once. I stayed on top of it all but it got too much for me due to the other moderators being slack and when they did come in they were biased. I got PM'd a lot from forum users who were happy with my moderating and eventually upset that I quit moderating. But I couldn't do it all myself. But yes a group of moderators who are ACTIVE on the board. And I would suggest not just the 'popular' ones or the ones who think they are popular because they have their buddies and will be biased. 1 Cununculus reacted to this

Yes although I was able by request to have a mod lock one of my own topics. So theirs always that option.

Gadge 4,294 Posted January 8, 2015 I put in a suggestion for 'player moderators' and suggested a few people i thought might make good ones when i put in the compilation of views that got us the off topic forums to the mods. I said the number one 'forum fix' would be 'more moderation' But they've said they are not able to do that right now. I've put up copies of my PMs with the mods but I dont think its fair to put up their reply regarding player mods as its personal correspondence. 1 Cununculus reacted to this
