AT-ST not to scale?

Recommended Posts

The AT-ST from Empire Strikes Back had longer legs than the one in Return of the Jedi, so the WotC one definitely looks more like ESB.  Even so, they are both probably smaller in scale than they should be.

Did Legends differentiate between the Hoth and Endor models?

No doubt the current canon will probably do so

edit:  Ugh, I fell for a necro thread.  Sorry everyone!

(seriously, how do these things resurface?)

The last post from this topic was in 2015.  Do we need to revisit this?

I'm probably going to take heat for this one. But let me premise this by saying that I love the AT-ST (as it is my FAVOURITE Star Wars vehicle) and so far have very little interest in Legion (and I don't see this changing). However, I'm not convinced the AT-ST belongs in IA. It doesn't make sense really. I think it's better suited for Legion. Maybe that's why it never gets table time in IA? Maybe that's why it's considered over-costed? Maybe it doesn't belong in IA? It wouldn't be the first time FFG designed a game that it turned out a core component was never playable. :P

Eh, I don't think it's a component issue, but a balancing one.  The AT-DP is pretty effective, and it's even bigger than the ST.

I think walkers like these are about as big as we should get for IA, but I think they still fit the theme well.  Basically, I don't see IA as ever being any bigger than the skirmish in the streets of Jedha in Rogue One.

I never liked it in Skirmish.  There are a couple campaign missions that it is acceptable, but I'm not a fan of huge figures either.  They are too unwieldy for the map sizes.  Nor am I a fan of using huge ships in X-Wing.

An A-wing took down a super star destroyer, who needs capital ships?? ;)

More seriously, IA is not over-abusing the AT-ST or any huge figures in campaigns.  I'm fine with the scale and happy to have that unit if needed.  In campaign, an AT-ST will really catch the rebel player's attention and in case of new players, it may even strikes fear!  In fact, an AT-ST in IA should feel more like a "Boss" (a bit too pricey for that at the moment) while it may just be another (but more powerful) unit in a game like Legion.

I find it gets good use in the campaign.  Honestly, stat wise?  It's not too impressive.  But when the players walk into a hangar, or it breaks out of the forest?  The psychological impact is just beautiful.  Sure, IG-88 might get more punch per point, but he just doesn't have the intimidation factor.

The more important question we should be asking is: are jedi knight Luke and original recipe Luke the same size????????????

BIGGER LUKE CONSPIRACY....

I would say jedi knight Luke is more likely to be taller.  Source : https://www.medicaldaily.com/space-travel-adds-inches-astronauts-height-244177
