SpikeSpiegel 2,077 Posted January 1, 2015 (edited) I'll keep it short and simple: I am an aviation enthusiast and enjoy the many things about real-world aviation, including aesthetics. I also enjoy Star Wars. You will find my attempts to apply real-world aviation paint schemes to X-Wing miniatures here. And to kick it off, here is my WIP Blue Angels X-Wing! Still need to touch up the yellow areas, add some engine glow and chrome out the Astromech. It was a simple paint job overall. Hopefully soon to come: Russian Su-37 Autumn Camo TIE Advanced Russian Su-37 Autumn Camo TIE Interceptors Russian Naval Pattern TIE Bombers Russian MiG-29 Dark/Light Gray Camo TIE Fighters U.S. Blue/Gray F-22 Pattern E-Wing U.S. Olive/Gray A-10 X-Wing Thunderbirds F-16 A-Wings Edited January 1, 2015 by SpikeSpiegel 10 AtomicFryingPan, Katman, Captain213 and 7 others reacted to this

Vykk Draygo 785 Posted January 1, 2015 Pretty slick repaint. I really like the blue angels theme. I'm gonna have to show this to my buddy tomorrow, he's a huge Michigan fan so he'll get a kick outta this too.
Robin Graves 6,050 Posted January 1, 2015 Awesome paintjob! Now I want x-wings painted to resemble the Decepticon "seekers".

Gadge 4,294 Posted January 1, 2015 Are the blue angels a display team like the UK RAF 'red arrows'? I dont normally like 'real world' paint schemes but this is great and totally looks in keeping with the star wars 'universe' 1 Sceadugenga reacted to this
Katman 55 Posted January 1, 2015 Hey Gadge the Blue Angels are the US Navy Flight Demonstration Team and the Thunderbirds are the US Air Force Flight Demonstration Team and the UK RAF Red Arrows would probably be in the same category.

And the USAF display team are the Thunderbirds.

Kamicosmos 54 Posted January 2, 2015 Very cool! Although, I think the A10 scheme should go on a Y-Wing.

oneway 1,878 Posted January 2, 2015 Nice, back in the early 70s my dad was stationed with some guys that eventually became pilots and ground crew for the Angels... I've been in one of those cockpits.. haha.. probably around the time this video was made.. they used to make a regular showing up here in Illinois.. Guess I've always been a fan of them because of the personal contact.. 1 Kyrios Mirage reacted to this
SpikeSpiegel 2,077 Posted January 2, 2015 I remember back in 2009, I was only a sophomore in high school when my dad and I travelled up from LA to San Francisco for Fleet Week and to see family. All of us found a secluded cliff off a hiking trail near the Golden Gate and we were waiting for the Angels to fly by. They were **** close to those cliffs and extremely low above the water. I assume they were prepping for their fly-by call for the actual show in the bay. But we got to see all four of them circle only a few hundred yards away from our spot, it was an amazing sight to see. And when we thought it was all over, their C-130 came lumbering in the distance and flew right by the cliffs as well. It was all a very special moment in my life. Now that I think of it, maybe there will be a Blue Angels 1300 or 2400 in the future as well... 1 oneway reacted to this

SpikeSpiegel 2,077 Posted January 9, 2015 I present to you the YT-1371S "Blackbird": If you haven't guessed by now, it is my attempt to repaint the Falcon in the fashion of an SR-71 Blackbird stealth jet. It has 3 Attack, 1 Evade, 1 Shield, 8 Hull, a focus, target lock and cloak for actions, 1 crew slot and 1 systems upgrade slot... I still need to add some glow in the cockpit, but I'm not sure what color I should go with, red or blue? I also need to drybrush some highlights on the red and add a white stripe over the docking bays, cockpit and cockpit terminal. I was going to streamline the entire model, but I thought it would've looked way too weird. 5 Robin Graves, Bikeanimal, Kyrios Mirage and 2 others reacted to this
