Gadge 4,294 Posted December 24, 2014 ^^^^ Like most the above Revanchrist... have you tried Ludvico Enaudi. Hes a modern classical composer and brilliant. Check out anything from 'le onde' on youtube you may like it. Barbers Adagio for strings isnt really classical , its quite modern but i always love that. I do like mozart though, and Grieg elgar and Holst and all the obvious ones. Im not terribly well educated about classical, baroque and romantic era music but i like most of it. Gadge 4,294 Posted December 24, 2014 Rcently i have developed a liking for some fo the psychobilly bands. I suppose it happens when you move to the American south *L* But then i have always liked the whole Spaghetti western type sound. Fields of the Nephilim's cover of Harmonica man from Once upon a time in the west rocks my world. There is an ebm group i quite like called 'and one'. Normally they are *very* electronic/cyber but they do an 'original mix' of their track 'military fashion show' but its a parody, its not the original they have just done it really rockabilly. You might like it

Cununculus 661 Posted December 24, 2014 The resident one-year-old has me listening to all current Flemish toddlers and kids music Not... Not K3? oh lord! Yup, the whole Studio 100 collection! K3, Mega Mindy, Piet Piraat, Wicky the Viking, Samson & Gert, a blue rabbit called Bobo, a bunch dressed up as princesses, and all other stuff Studio 100 came up with. By now some are stuck in my brain, without knowing I am humming the tunes. To the amusement of those around me On the other hand she does like Me First & the Gimme Gimmes too 1 Gadge reacted to this

Gadge 4,294 Posted December 24, 2014 Ah ear worms the only way i can get a song that stuck in my head out is by watching the video or listneing to it a few times on youtube while reading the lyrics. Tends to stop my brain having one verse or chorus on a loop

Cununculus 661 Posted December 24, 2014 Ducktales woo hoo!* * this song is now stuck in your head.Enjoy! Just when "Welkom welkom, bij de drie biggetjes..." got stuck I now have this one in my brain. And I think I have to say thank you for it What really makes me cringe is a recent K3-song where they sing to the current queen of The Netherlands what a wonderfull husband she has.... My solution is to give in but try to keep a song that at least makes me a bit happy in my head. *walks away while humming ´Piet Piraat, Piet Piraat, schip ahoy hoy hoy...´*

EastCoast 1,349 Posted December 24, 2014 Been listening to a lot of 90s alternative recently. Listening/watching Alice in Chains unplugged on youtube while I work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwS0OwGnE2o Got me wrong at 39:30 is just so well done, better than the studio version IMO. Gosric 696 Posted December 25, 2014 Thanks for the info Gadge Im familiar with And one but didnt know they had done a version of the song like that. Ill have to look for it. Aaah. On the subject of industrial I completely forgot Laibach who are not perfect but make some of the best covers out there. The song Life is life sounds like music for Imperials to groove to but the original was a terrifyingly bad pop reggae thing.

Dagonet 7,246 Posted December 26, 2014 Currently in the playlist: The bands and artists we're sure of seeing live the coming year: Olafur Arnalds, basically anything, but For Now I Am Winter and the Broadchurch music he composed especially (Revanchist, you'd like him) Douglas Dare Fink Einaudi Oscar and the Wolf Simeon Ten Holt's Canto Ostinato Others Agent Fresco, Icelandic, like Olafur Arnalds, but that's where the comparison ends Max Richter's Vivaldi Recomposed Steven Wilson, solo and Porcupine Tree (we'd see him live too but we've already got a concert scheduled then ) And a whole lot more, but my wife picks most of the music around here, ranging from classical to well, almost anything really

aadh 385 Posted December 29, 2014 Kind of an eclectic bunch lately: Rosetta (post-metal, although they dislike the term) Warpaint (indie, psychedelic) *shels (post-metal) Robyn Miller (Myst soundtrack) Crippled Black Phoenix (post-prog) Morphine (90's alt) Mahumodo (post-hardcore) Nick Cave & Warren Ellis (The Assassination of Jesse James soundtrack) Amorphis (death metal) Mazzy Star (dream pop, 90's alt) Jakob (post-rock) I must recommend Rosetta, *shels, Crippled Black Phoenix, and Jakob and the post-metal genre on the whole. Immensely well-crafted and thoughtful stuff.
aadh 385 Posted December 29, 2014 Oh, today it's mostly been Tool, though. Lateralus and 10,000 Days in particular. 1 Robin Graves reacted to this
Gosric 696 Posted December 30, 2014 Did a lot of driving around today went through a compilation of 80s electronic/ New Romantic from OMD to Roxy music (A timeless band really but the particular songs were from the 80s) Opera from Puccini to Wagner and a Lisa Gerrard/Dead can dance comp. Was feeling a bit floaty by the end of that one
