Let's Talk about X: Scum and Villainy list - Scarlet Thief

Recommended Posts

Narcoleptic:  The problem with that is that it just makes Palob even more of a priority target.

If Kaato has bodyguard with VI Palob and Kath, you can choose who to add extra protection to.

For that purpose, then yes. I would personally run Palob along with a late game ship and then some low PS fighters, like Z-95s or such.

For example

Guri

- VI

- Virago

- FCS

Palob

- Bodyguard

- ICT

- Recon Specialist

Binayre Pirate

x3

/100p

Then you head in to cause some havoc with the Z-95s. If your opponent targets Guri, well that's 4 evade dice and a bunch of Zs doing what they want. If he/she targets Palob then your Zs do what they want and Guri will stay alive for a while longer. If he/she targets the Zs, well then what is there to complain about? ;)

Last night I ran a very similar list:

Kath + Opportunist; K4 Droid; Seismic charge

Palob + VI; Blaster Turret; RecSpec

N'Dru + Lone Wolf; Cluster Missiles; Deadman's Switch

It completely took apart a Decimator + Boba list. Boba went down in one turn of shooting, taking 4 hits and 2 crits from Kath alone! I think N'Dru synergies well with the other two as it is easier to keep him at range 3 of this squad mates if they are constantly retreating from the enemy. Plus 1 turn of 8 attack dice from him with two rerolls is brilliant!

Regarding Palob versus Isard, it came up in that game too. P16 of the rule book states, if you abilities would resolve at the same time the player with initiative resolves his or hers first. So if the Imps have initiative then he places his evade token first, then Palob can steal it. If the Scum have initiative then the evade token isn't on the table to steal and he has to steal someone else's.

That's the ndru build I was considering too.

Mei: I was also considering how aka'-to with body guard could have good place along Palob. Maybe trade a switch and downgrade ion to blaster to get him. Or drop switch and k4.

Well that's an interesting thought! So Kaa'To Leeachos borrows a focus or evade from a friendly and returns it, or shares it to yet another friendly in the form of an additional agility die.

Is an extra naked agility die worth more than a focus or evade token?

It depends.  If the ship your giving an extra agility is likely to be shot at by multiple ships, then the extra agility is better.  If they are only shot at once, then the token is generally better.

Giving Fett the extra agility with multiple enemies at range one would be cool.

This would be my goto combo

I mean, why borrow from a friendly when you can borrow from the enemy?

LOL nicely put!

Which Scum Firespray do you think will see the most use?

I believe all the scum firesprays will be good but I think we're going to see a lot of Fett but I think because of Kath's ability, she  is going to be seen more in top lists. Kath with opportunist in a list with palob will be very scary when flow by the right player.

Why you don't give Moldy Crow title to HWK? It is very useful.

It depends on if I have the space for it. Not a bad card at all - but I didn't want to spend the points on Moldy Crow because I was testing some of the new scum cards, Greedo specifically. I wanted to bring Greedo and Determination along.

I think I would take Moldy Crow, Blaster Turret, Greedo, and Determination on Palob but that is a lot of points to put into something that is basically designed to get murdered.

This looks like a fantastic list, Scum has so many options right out of the gate. I did a little tinkering with your list and came up with another one I would like to try myself:

Kath + Opportunist + K4 + Tactical Jammer (46)

Palob + Opportunist + Blaster Turret + K4 (31)

Syndicate Thug + Ion Cannon Turret + BTL-A4 (23)

You could also drop Tac Jammer for a 1 point initiative bid, or you drop Tac Jammer and the Y for 2 PS1 Z-95's.

On the Firespray+HWK+Z-95 track too. Thinking this myself:

Boba Fett + Draw Their Fire (40)

Palob + Blaster Turret + Opportunist + K4 (31)

N'Dru Suhlak (17)

Binayre Pirate (12)

N'dru is a steal for the points and acts as a flanker while the other team up. The Pirate as blocker, Boba has a chance to save Palob for another round of shooting (1 point isn´t much for a maybe clause that has major kickback concerning "I have a huge bullseye painted on the nose cone Palob...") and they all have the advantage of stealing defensive tokens. For some reason I´m not that keen on all specialised lists, but like expendable chumps for blocking and whatnot.

The last may change come info on Scyks, but Headhunters are really nice at what they do, so don´t really expect it.

Also, Palob can take both recon specialist and moldy crow, to become a Kyle-type focus bank for scum.

My dear Palob is worth the point investment.

Since the raider news release, I think I'll be getting only one most wanted, rather than two.

Is anyone else adjusting their wave 6 budget to include the raider?

Another question that came up was "At the start of combat"

At the start of combat, Ysanne Isard gives Rear Admiral Chiraneau a free evade action.

At the start of combat, Palob Godalhi steals a focus or evade token from an enemy range 1-2 of him.

Does Palob steal the evade token Ysanne yields Chiraneau?

Chicken and egg situation?

I would say no. "At the start of the combat phase" means the conditions that were "at the start of the combat phase". So you wouldnt be able to steal a token that was also given "at the start of the combat phase" because once it is given is no longer the start of the combat phase.

That would be wrong, because if you've got multiple ships or upgrades with the "At the start of the Combat phase..." trigger, you're saying there's only going to be one of them that will ever work and the rest don't get a chance. It goes by intitiative order until ALL have been resolved, so everybody gets a chance.

I had some fun play testing wave 6 ships. Check out my thoughts on the following list:

Scarlet Thief (100/100)

======================

HWK-290: Palob Godalhi (20 + 7)

+ Determination (1)

+ Ion Cannon Turret (5)

+ Greedo (1)

Firespray-31: Kath Scarlet (38 + 7)

+ Opportunist (4)

+ K4 Security Droid (3)

Z-95: Binayre Pirate (12 + 2)

+ Dead Man's Switch (2)

Z-95: Binayre Pirate (12 + 2)

+ Dead Man's Switch (2)

I'm liking the Palob/Kath combo you came up with. Very cool. I love the 5-dice from the rear of the Firespray. It gives it a real sting in the tail. I'm gonna have to give this one a go real soon.

Since it´s easier on the dial to stay ahead of someone rather than tail them Kath should indeed be quite good. Could a bomb be a possible extra to Kath, as she wants to be tailed, instead of say the Switches as they are more random? I mean you're more likely to blow up your own guys over an enemies action than your own by mistakenly dropping a bomb.

I sure think so, but adding bombs can be costly. Might be work trying this load out and adding a proton bomb for fun.

Not sure why they couldn't have gotten your name off the site while discussing your list, but the reference was clearly there.

I'm keen to try this build out, but my friends are less than enthused about me using unreleased ships.
