Overlord question.

Recommended Posts

Can the overlord use a monsters HP to add an extra MP the same as a hero would with fatigue? Asking this in response to a buddy using dash on the fat goblin to get 3 move turns and using his HP to move the rest of the remaining spaces to the entrance/exit therefore instantly winning the encounter.

Wow ... just ... wow.

Some of the heroes on this site sure play against a very strange set of OLs ...

I mean, I understand trying to take LEGAL advantage of each and every little thing, to best improve your situation against the heroes, and perhaps a case can even be made for taking advantage of some questionable interpretations of things ...

But ... wow ... just wow.

Converting health points into movement points?  The very definition of being given an inch and taking a mile.

I would really love to be a fly on the wall, and hear this particular OL's reasoning as to why this should be allowed.  I would love to know what he quotes in the rules and/or the FAQ that could even REMOTELY be interpreted as this being allowed.

And I thought I was a crafty OL ...  :P

Seeing as we're both new, I just had to clarify because it seemed horribly unfair and one of the videos we watched on YouTube was confusing ad to this rule. That monsters followed the same rule for movement as heroes except they can't suffer fatigue because monsters have 0, it then went on to say that if a monster would suffer fatigue, it would then sufFer health instead.

@Yuniver:

Forgive me.  I truly wasn't trying to be snarky, or make fun of you and your players.  I was just fascinated by the imagination that came into play.

Sometimes FFG's rules (and various clarifications) can leave much to be desired.  In general, if any figure has to suffer fatigue when it has none remaining, it then has to suffer health (damage) instead.  This was a rule introduced with the base game.

Since no monsters have fatigue, if some mechanic of the game should cause them to have to suffer fatigue, they would then suffer damage instead.

FFG was simply trying to cover the bases when it came to the rule (from the base game), so that if some future expansion, mechanic, ability, rule, card, etc. forced a monster to suffer fatigue, you would know what to do.

And just to be very clear, no your OL cannot choose to have his monsters suffer health (damage) to gain movement points.

Welcome to the game and to the forum.  There are a great bunch of people on this forum, and are generally very welcoming and are a helpful resource to new (and experienced) players.  Enjoy.

You don't have to wait for that any2cards ... bleeding for example does the trick as does diseased. (Somehow I deleted the quotation's frame.)

True.  I was just trying to provide a generic response, so as not to seem to limit the effect to any one aspect of the game.  Sometimes players can take responses too literally.  Especially if English is not their first language.
