Custom larger Elder Signs (now with images)

Recommended Posts

I've been meaning for a long time to make a better elder-sign to this game.

The current one is way too small so it might be hard to see which locations are sealed and also do not really feel like you have managed to stabilize the location from further danger.

Therefore I was thinking of making some kind of marker simular to the gate-tokens in size to put on the sealed locations. Of course they would be much like the current ones in appearance, only bigger.

Also I might make one special seal for whenvere a lucky investigator is using "the great seal" so that gatebursts do not affect it. Perhaps a yellow or red seal would be appropiate.

What do you guys think.?

So I put this idea into action and this is my first result. I wanted a bright token to represent the positive light of a closed portal and also keep the blue/white theme of the elder signs from the deck. I am still pondering how to make the great seal but I am very pleased with how they turned out in just 30 minutes effort. Also I glued the image onto some stiff cardboard so they feel (and sound) like the normal gate-tokens once you drop them or  hold them in your hand. They might be a fraction bigger then the normal gate token but since I made them on my spare time at work I am very pleased how well I guessed in size.

(I made 6 of them to actually feel the satisfaction of placing that sixth seal onto the board as well to end the game)

those are cool my problem is  i like to see the cool art on locations it makes sense that a gate would override the location but it dosent with a seal

A fair point and taking into consideration that some locations will have open gates in addition to any possible sealed location you will not get to see much of the original board. I see two options:

1. Make your own version, maybe with a large hole in the middle so that the location shows as well, I considered this but to remain stability in the tokens discarded that idea.

2. Keep using the original elder signs, they are small and does the job but my group often have to look several times at the board to count how many locations we have sealed at the moment. It's enough hassle to find all the clues on the board (but I will not make them larger as well) so I thought this to be a great solution. Hopefully I will have my first play through with them this weekend.
