This is my latest project, Scum & Villany Z-95s with a Japanese touch. The commissioner wanted the models to use yakuza/Japanese motifs and I think I've managed to deliver. An Asian dragon, a Japanese Kitsune and a Sakura tree branch. The Kitsune motif finally makes it perfectly valid to scream 'Do a barrel roll!'

Yes, the secret sauce in this case is water slide decals. I got myself a special printing paper that makes it possible to print out just about anything and use as a water slide decal. That said, it wasn't exactly easy, due to the small size. I'm fairly certain that I could have painted them freehand but this was faster and saved me some of my already limited sanity. All of the decals has been painted further and in some cases, like the wing motif, the decal has merely been a guide and on top of it I've painted the colours I've actually wanted.

Decals are easy and fun, I use them as well when I cant paint something.

This is excellent work, you know I admire all the work you've done. I think I need to kick up my creative style maybe. I need to expand my X wings to more than just Wedge, maybe kick out Biggs and Skywalker.. maybe Porkins as well. Then personalize a couple of them, alongwith Z95s, and Y wings... Hmmm E wings have possibilities too.

That is near impossible to say as almost all commissions differ from each other. If you want more details I suggest you send me a PM.

 

 

Great work, Macross! What do you use for decal paper/where do you get it?

 

The decal paper I got was from Testors. They claim that it is part of their 'decal system' and that you need all the stuff included in the system, i.e. a program disc, decal bonder spray, decal setting solution and decal paper. That is a huge fat lie. All you need is one of the decal papers, a colour ink printer and some spray varnish.
