What are the chances that we will see Titans in Conquest?

Recommended Posts

I have wondered about it myself. Something about me won't let me forget them. Anyway, I'm not sure. If a dreadnought or a heldrake can weigh in at 8/8, what can a titan be like, 20/20? And realistically, it could not be harmed by soldier or even most vehicle units. It would be brutally overpowered. Even though they would most accurately be units, I think they may have to be supports.

Of course, the designers may come up with a concept that makes them workable. I can't imagine what that would be, but I certainly think that we will see them. They are just too well known and several races have their own versions. The game will feel incomplete without them.

That could make it an event. Something named "Titan's wrath" or whatever. Could be a board wipe.

It could also be in future warlord's signature squads - they could limit them to 1 per deck that way and make sure they we everyone gets one (or a similarly powerful card). It'd have to be expensive and powerful as all get out. But there would have to be a drawback to keep them from being to overpowered.

We already have an exterminatus card, wich is about blowing up a planet. I'm pretty sure they can work in titans somehow.

"Clavigera" Warhound titan

Unique Army Unit

SM/AM faction

Cost 10

2 Command icons.

Titan. Elite.

One per deck.

No wargear attachments.

Armour bane.

Voidshields. (You may use non-shield cards in your hand as if they were shield cards to prevent damage assigned to this unit. Treat cards discarded this way as if they had shield icons equal to their cost.)

10/8

Only think is that any unit with 10/8 on it's own is pretty broken.  One turn swat of any Warlord.

I mean, Goff Nob + Cybork Body is pretty strong but then you toss on 4 more attack and two sweet abilities...yikes.

I somehow envision Titans to have a great many Command Icons and traits, but still be a support card and not neccessarily an Army unit. The main reason that I say this is that I shudder to think what an Emperor Titan would cost and how much damage it would dish out if it was an Army unit.

Mere thoughts.

Don't blame me, blame FF! :D  they made the Possessed a 9/5. I could hardly make a titan weaker than a squad of possessed chaos marines, right?

Yeah an Imperator would be hideously OP.

I might slap on a "deploys/moves to a planet exausted" on it in order to balance them further. I imagine it takes a while for a titan legio dropship to deploy titans to a world.

Bear in mind that units with armorbane will shoot straight trough a titans voidshields, wich is why they got armorbane themselves (they got really big guns after all) so titans can kill each other. But even ordinary units with armorbane can eff up a titan when they have initiative.

I decided not to give them to much comand, because i see them as combat beasts first, and only gave them two command points, because the enemy would be going"oh crap! titans, run away!". But mostly because my titan was OP enough as it was.

I was thinking maybe it would be something like "This unit can only move or deploy to a planet in which you control no other units. You may not control other units at this planet". That way, it may be hugely powerful, but it has to go at it alone against what opponent may amass there. No units before or after it shows up.

Though this would present an issue with warlord/unit commitment when there is only one planet left. Maybe a forced discard if this happens?

I have no idea what a Titan is in this game, but they sound super powerful.  This opens up an idea for multiplayer.  Like star wars.  An overpowered Titan deck in which 2 or 3 opponents team up to try and defeat?

Nice name sir, And nice idea. But i tought of another way to balance it. In the fluff titans tend to ignore the infanty to some extent and focus on the vehilces and other titans so I brought down it's attack value to a reasonable 5 and gave it a new keyword that still lets it do some serious damage to certain units. I've also changed how voidshields work so i can have bigger titans with better voidshields.

"Ferrus Canis" Warhound titan

Unique Army Unit

SM/AM faction

Cost 8

2 Command icons.

Titan. Elite.

One per deck.

No wargear attachments.

Armorbane.

Titan weapons: If this unit would deal damage to a vehicle or titan unit, double the damage dealt to that unit.

Voidshields (1) . Once per combat round you may use non-shield cards in your hand as if they were shield cards to prevent damage assigned to this unit. Treat cards discarded this way as if they had shield icons equal to their cost.

Still OP with Voidshields. I think you probably have to have one or the other ability, but not both. Maybe you could get away with Voidshields(1).

Maybe have Armorbane and an ability that they non-Vehicle units cannot damage a Titan or non-vheicles do half damage.

You might have a point, I didn't take into account how easy it is to draw several cards per turn. Ok, so how is this?

"Pax Imperator" Warhound titan

Unique Army Unit

SM/AM faction

Cost 9

2 Command icons.

Titan. Elite.

Titan weapons: If this unit would deal damage to a vehicle or titan unit, double the damage dealt to that unit.

Perhaps if Titan's also featured a combination of the Material, Tech and Strongpoint icons which your opponent could claim upon their destruction it might help balance them and prevent them being sent into every battle?

Nice idea, like that one!

Im also all in favour for that idea! I feel that it would also be awesome to use the icons on planets for payment of Titans, in a way it would also make sence and let you do something with your planets in the lategame.

In the saber tooth games 40k card game they had titians.

They worked them in by not putting flags on them and rewarding the opposing player for their deployment .

So it would look something like this.

Titian xxx

-lord of war

10 cost

No command icons

*/14

ACTION:Exhaust a non-token unit you control to destroy an opposing non-warlord unit.

Units cost you 1 more to deploy to this planet and your opponents 1 less to deploy at this planet.

Lord of war special rules.

May not retreat.

Only one copy of one lord of war per deck.

May be recruited from discard piles.

May be moved to any planet after resolving command struggles.

No attachments.

Thanks for that information. I think by paying planets you could also give up something huge to get back into the game again. Alternatively I can see them being unable to untap for example, probably needing certain Support cards to untap them for example.

Either way, if they make it into the game they probably will be huge, limited to the very late game and asking for a huge cost. It would not make them unplayable but probably not fit into any faction strategy (so far). I personally do want to see many more 3,4,5,6 drops before we will go into Titan realm.

The Dark Millennium game had an imperial titan called Imperialis Annihilatus. It had a massive shooting stat but it could not declare shooting attacks. It could, however, do a bunch of other things. It could counterattack if it was attacked. It could exhaust to destroy a vehicle unit. It also could(with the right dice roll) refresh if an enemy vehicle became exhausted. we have seen some of that game's influence here, so perhaps this are some of the things they can do with titans.
