ThisIsAzrael 1 Posted November 13, 2014 Hey everyone, A question regarding the ability of HB ID The Foundry. "The first time you rez a piece of ice each turn, you may search R&D for another copy of that ice, reveal it, and add it to HQ. Shuffle R&D." Now I'm really trying not to pick bones with this but my query is really around what happens if the corp decides to search R&D for a copy of an ICE only to realise that there isn't one in there. This could happen due to an honest mistake or I worry it could happen in a malicious manner also by feigning forgetting number of ICE left in the deck. Does anyone else see any possible issue with this or can the HQ simply search and shuffle R&D at will when ICE is rezzed whether there's a copy of ICE in there or not? Many thanks all, Az
nungunz 221 Posted November 13, 2014 No issue. It's perfectly legit to know that there is nothing in the deckand search it just to get a shuffle. It's a perfect way to defend against indexing and R&D lock if you can pull it off. 2 CommissarFeesh and Devon Greatwolf reacted to this
ThisIsAzrael 1 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) Thanks for the reply Yea it was a game where I was playing as Event based Chaos Theory with many Indexing's (thanks to Levy AR) and my opponent used it very effectively. Rules as written I definitely agree. I guess the whole "not being able to reveal a card, add it to HQ" threw me into thinking then they wouldn't then shuffle R&D Az Edited November 13, 2014 by ThisIsAzrael
CommissarFeesh 458 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) It's in the FAQ (or maybe tournament rules, I forget which). In a tournament it's also perfectly valid to ask a TO to verify that there are no valid targets in deck, as the player MUST find one if able, even if not what they originally wanted. For example, I might trigger an SMC to find a Nerve Agent, then realise I don't have Nerve in this deck (or perhaps it ended up in my heap and I forgot). If I have ANY programs left in my deck though, I have to find one and install it (paying the cost). Of course, if I can't pay for any of my remaining programs, then I get a shuffle at the cost of one SMC and 2 credits.
