Forgottenlore 9,824 Posted October 16, 2014 i would rather a long title then one that doesn't explain what the post is about. Pretty much this. If I don't have some idea what a thread is going to be about I'm not going to open it. My I don't have time to sift through dozens of threads I don't care about because people are too lazy to think up accurate descriptions.
Marinealver 8,068 Posted October 16, 2014 A quote of some tips that I used to see posted at one of my old workplaces. In a background article on the leaked diplomatic cable archive, the NYT today discusses the "Ambassador's Cable Drafting Tips" by Richard E. Hoagland, the U.S. ambassador to Kazakhstan. From the article:Pay attention to the first 5 words, they need to catch the reader's attention, they are the only thing diplomats see in the electronic cable queue Avoid flabby writing (see this too often in diplomacy) Incorporate story telling But: cute writing is never acceptable, only for toddlers, not for professionals... 3 z0m4d, chilligan and Stronghammer reacted to this
Stronghammer 193 Posted October 16, 2014 ^ exactly, be concise and to the point. Not "is this any good" - should be " is this swarm list good" etc Like those people that don't put subject headings in emails, errrrgh 1 z0m4d reacted to this

There is no shortage of paper or information in Washington. Edited October 16, 2014 by Marinealver
