rapatpamp 46 Posted October 3, 2014 (edited) Usually there are a few cards that are only 1 copy but there are alot. After buying 2 cores I only have 2 of each as extras for each faction. Fits in more kinds of cards but I wasn't expecting this many. Need to buy a 3rd set lol. Edited October 3, 2014 by rapatpamp
DOAisBetter 7 Posted October 3, 2014 I tend not to care about the Netrunner problem of buying a 3rd core for 6 cards but I bought 4. I think cores like this are better for the community or those who hate the lcg coreset distributions since there is less "waste" for the 2nd and 3rd core purchases. If I am correct there are only 2-3 2 ofs in each faction.
Reaver027 233 Posted October 3, 2014 And still after buying 3 sets you have so have 1 set worth of extra cards.
Prepare for War 155 Posted October 3, 2014 Even as someone who is surely going to buy 3 sets (2 first, then another later) because I love the game so much I'm also somewhat disappointed by the entry level cost of competitive play here.
Toqtamish 3,643 Posted October 3, 2014 Every LCG has required 3 copies. The great thing about this one having so many 1 of's is it means there is very little "waste" in the 2nd and 3rd sets unlike say Netrunner. 1 beliel reacted to this
FiendishDevil 97 Posted October 3, 2014 Happier for 1 ofs. Means more card variety, less duplicates. I always buy 3 sets anyhow. This discussion seems to never end 3 snaggrriss, Toqtamish and CommissarFeesh reacted to this
rapatpamp 46 Posted October 3, 2014 I hadn't thought of it that way , less extras after 3 sets Except those warlords Not too bad then.
Robin Graves 6,054 Posted October 3, 2014 Now idealy i wish they'd just put 3 of each card in the core set, but this way with more cards and no waste i can live. Now I'm off to go bug my local shop owner and see if he's willing to do a buy 3 get one free deal 1 Millertime reacted to this
ktom 598 Posted October 3, 2014 Hmm. Wouldn't almost tripling the number of cards in the Core Set logically also make it almost triple the price? And would anyone other than people already planning to play competitively buy a Core Set that cost around $100? 1 CommissarFeesh reacted to this
dbmeboy 807 Posted October 3, 2014 Every LCG has required 3 copies. Except Star Wars. Because Star Wars is awesome like that
Robin Graves 6,054 Posted October 3, 2014 In an ideal world they would keep the price down. But i see your point. But what would you rather have a 6 faction core box with 3 of each and a large expansion with the other 2 factions (3 of each) or would you rather have the 8 faction box that you have to buy 3 times? You know what? I just answered my own question: the 8 faction core times three IS the better option. 2 Kaic and CommissarFeesh reacted to this
FiendishDevil 97 Posted October 6, 2014 I opened, sleeved, and sorted three core sets. Each faction only has two cards duplicated. Trash duplicates are warlords, signatures, planet cards, and info cards. Overall, not as much duplicates as I feared! I like the distribution.
Saikron 1 Posted October 9, 2014 I never expected people to be happier to get less of something for the same price. "There's less waste!" Really? I would rather throw extra cards in the garbage than have so many singles in the core set. What I actually do with extras is keep more decks built and give them to people who don't have money for extra cores or lost some. 1 Papa Midnight reacted to this
rzarectz 21 Posted October 9, 2014 Also happy with it, so many more unique cards at release!
Robin Graves 6,054 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) Well you get more diffrent cards rather than the more of the same. Compare it with netrunner wich is very "mono color" so to speak, you only get to splach in 15 dots (not cards, dots!) of diffrent faction cards. While 40kC is almost like Smash Up : take faction A and faction B, shuffle them together and you have a deck. You don't really need to have 3 of each, its just that almost everybody wants to build a mono (lets say: space marines only deck) that's up to them. Or compare it to warhammer invasion core box. Some cards in threes, some cards only once, and the high and dark elves have a few teaser cards. Either you print each card once or you print each card trice. I want none of this "yeah everything is in there several times except the one good card, thats only in there once." Bah! With Netrunner you are getting fewer unique cards and more copies of the same cards. So, there is less in Netrunner than there is in WH40K. In fact, if you look at the product descriptions Netrunner has 252 cards and WH40K has 274. You're not even getting as many cards in general with Netrunner, even when you aren't considering unique vs non-unique.
ultimate26 1 Posted October 10, 2014 I wish they sold a "Core box filler" pack so that you get only the missing cards instead of having wasted cards like warlords and signature units+ tokens,. im willing to pay 30 or so to just be able to get the remainders. 1 Nematode reacted to this

Sorry, but that particular notion has been discussed to death (just check out the other topics in this forum; they're on the front page even). Suffce to say, they aren't gong to happen any time soon. ultimate26 1 Posted October 10, 2014 Encouraging wasted material and garbage should be discouraged when marketing products, buying multiple cores will inevitably take up space in storage and if thrown away then garbage being created. You sell a product that comes with wasted materials, that is very illogical.
CommissarFeesh 458 Posted October 10, 2014 /deadhorse. This topic has been discussed many many times. Including on this forum. The reasons FFG do this are by this point well established, and it is unlikely it will change.
ultimate26 1 Posted October 10, 2014 Thats fine, they will have the reputation that their customers are unhappy with the decisions they make and thats satisfying enough for me if they will "NEVER" change.
