Jack/Master of All Trades

Recommended Posts

Both of these Inquisitor Talents only list Knowledge as the aptitude.  Should it not say Intelligence & Knowledge?  I do see that some Untouchable Talents only list Willpower by itself however.

I assumed that all Talents have two corresponding aptitudes, but perhaps the Talents for Elite Advances are suppose to have only one corresponding aptitude in some cases?

My guess is it's shorthand for General (i.e. free attribute). Then again all of the other places they list aptitudes specify General, so it could go either way.

Probably something that should go into the errata.

I believe its meant to convey the fact that a player will always purchase such talents as having only 1 corrosponding Talent, more or less fix-rating the cost for the talents. That, or it was oversight. As CPS, probably something that should be clarified in a future errata.

First, hahaha, oh wow, what? I hadn't seen the Talent yet (on account of not actually playing DH2 yet.. if ever.. and thus not completely reading through the entire book). But that's one hell of a potentially broken Talent.

Second, I read it like Cogniczar. It's only got one Aptitude associated with it. If only one Aptitude is mentioned, we must assume that it's only has one Aptitude. Thus, it's cost is fixed.

Now, it may be an oversight, and if it's not, there's certainly an oversight in not explaining that single-Aptitude Talents is a possibility, but I doubt it.

Infused knowledge is a far bigger problem in terms of brokenness, for 600 xp or so you get ALL common lore and scholastic lore... and you even get a bonus degree of success on them.

Fgdsfg, it's an Inquisitor only talent path, and if you want to raise your skill level higher then +10, you need to invest in the regular skill from untrained and up.
So not that bad at all

Also, for Master of All Trades, it says to advance all Known skills to Trained but it doesn't specifically reference "non-Specialist" as Jack of All Trades does.  I am assuming it is supposed to say that but...

The prerequisite is Jack of All Trades, that covers the non-specialist skills nicely.

Seeing as the second talent is called Master of all Trades, well Rules as Written ~ my understanding is to advance all known skills (including known specialist skills) to Trained. :)

+ the name gives it away.

Finally got a chance to reread the Aptitude description and it clearly says:

Characteristic, skill, and talent advances in the

game have aptitudes linked to them, usually two (though especially

rare abilities might have only one).

So it is a fixed cost associated with these rare Elite Advance talents like everyone said.  Thanks all!

I don't understand why they have that rule AND the General Aptitude. It should be one or the other since they both accomplish the same thing. Having both just creates confusion.

Does it really? Seems to me that with the General Aptitude, you can get it twice discounted, while this way you can only get it once discounted.

I really don't understand how this can be misunderstood.

A Talent with Knowledge/General Aptitudes means that a character with the Knowledge Aptitude automatically counts as having two Aptitudes that are applicable to the purchase of the Talent.

A Talent with only the Knowledge Aptitude makes it impossible to ever have more than one Aptitude associated with it.

The General Aptitude is far away from being *no* Aptitude.
