GM Hooly 1,671 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) Greetings Gamers! So now that many of us have seen the first double episode of the series, what are your thoughts? I personally thought they could have done without messing with even more continuity with showing us the Kessel Spice Mines, but generally it was excellent. NicoJMont 123 Posted September 27, 2014 Anyone can watch it. Go to www.watchdisneyxd.com or download the Disney xd app on your mobile device. Then you register you cable or satellite provider and it becomes available to watch online. 3 jordiver2, themensch and GM Hooly reacted to this
NicoJMont 123 Posted September 27, 2014 I agree I did not want Kessel to be a normal looking planet. I also hated the CG of the wookiees compared to those seen in the clone wars. I liked how you clone wars opened with a message. Wished it had a crawl. And at times there was no music. Star Wars always needs music. All that is nitpicking. Otherwise I loved every second of it. I can't wait for this show. 1 Sarone reacted to this

Desslok 13,575 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) You the thought that "many" have seen an advanced screening seems a bit... rude/mean/unhappy doesn't it? The show doesn't air until October 3rd for normal people. at least give some people a chance to watch it before trying to spoil it. Well, to be fair, he did mark it as spoilers in the thread title. Any clickage is on the head of the clickee at that point. As for the episode - it was actually pretty good. While it was still kind of pilot-y, it was MUCH better than the Clone Wars pilot/movie they did for the launch of that show. It was witty, the characters were well developed, and it set the stage without being too cludgy about it. Oh, and I really like the music - composer Kevin Kiner did a good job with weaving in the Real Star Wars music with the show. So far? I'm digging it. Cant wait for next-next friday. . . . ***edit*** Actually there is just ONE thing that really bugs me: the 'neck' of the Star Destroyers are still WAY too skinny and long. OggDude 3,594 Posted September 27, 2014 I'm watching it now. My hack-dar went off when I saw "go.com" in the URL, but as it turns out, the domain is owned by Disney. Cool show so far, though. Lots of action.

MrDodger 571 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) As a point of consideration, here in the UK (yep, where they are actually filming Episode VII) it still isn't possible to legally watch Clone Wars Season 6. Not Amazon, not Netflix, not iTunes. It's inexplicable and extremely annoying. And yes, I know there are ways and means. But it's still very poor on the part of Disney/Lucasfilm. Edit: I don't know if any of the subscription Disney channels here carry it, as I don't have any of them. Yoshiyahu 545 Posted September 27, 2014 Actually there is just ONE thing that really bugs me: the 'neck' of the Star Destroyers are still WAY too skinny and long. See what I mean: I believe that this is actually a deliberate design decision. From what I understand, they wanted to make their Star Destroyers and TIE Fighters more closely resemble the late Ralph McQarrie's designs: I don't like the long-necked Star Destroyers either, but I'm not much of a fan of the visual style they opted to go with for The Clone Wars and Rebels anyway. 1 Sarone reacted to this

PaladinSB 12 Posted September 27, 2014 Overall, I really enjoyed it. It was definitely *MUCH* improved over the pilot/movie for "The Clone Wars". The wookies did look bad, but actually not as bad as I was expecting from some of the early reviews I'd read. I'm sure the art will improve like "The Clone Wars" did - the budget for "Rebels" is smaller and I think it's a different animation studio than did "The Clone Wars". Speaking of which, they have 3 more unfinished episodes of "The Clone Wars" available at starwars.com now - full dialogue, sound effects and music, but the animation is all just the blocking animation they use to determine character placement and camera angles, placeholders basically, before the shots were rendered. It's not fancy, but still very cool to see. I definitely agree with the OP - the characters have such an EotE feel, I'm hoping Fantasy Flight will eventually put out a sourcebook based on the show. 2 GM Hooly and Sarone reacted to this
GM Hooly 1,671 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) The main issues that I had were: A space transport getting onto the hanger deck of am Imperial Class Star Destroyer without anyone noticing. The crew making into orbit and landing on the Kessel Spice Mines The Kessel Spice Mines itself (isn't it supposed to be a barren asteroid type rock in space and not an actual planet? Wookiees...what's up with them? I tried to watch the show as an Edge of the Empire adventure, and I guess they could have done the first two things with the roll a couple of Triumphs. As for the other two, Kessel has only ever been explored in EU, so ultimately, they're the bosses. As for the Wookiees...I knew what they were, and hearing "Lumpy's" bark again was cute, so I'll just give that to artistic choice. All-in, I loved it, and can't wait for the rest of the season. GM Hooly 1,671 Posted September 27, 2014 (edited) As a friend pointed out, its a good example of a campaign where the GM is using Edge of the Empire and Age of Rebellion. That may not be correct, and I don't remember where I read it, but if so, he's probably on par with Obi Wan in "The Phantom Menace." He was probably ready for the trials, but not yet a Master. I guess we'll find out as the show progresses. Edited September 28, 2014 by PaladinSB 2 Sarone and NicoJMont reacted to this

Probably about as strong as a FaD PC. 1 Sarone reacted to this
